Loved this place. A cosy and peaceful place at natures paradise. The cabin had everything and more then we could have wanted. if you want to step away from it all, this is the place. Dave and Dru were lovely, very accommodating. We will being going back again =)
Many thanks to Dave for our stay at the Love Shack. Due to the snow fall Dave constantly checked on our safety traveling there and gave us a warm welcome, even lighting the fire for us. Beautiful shack and plenty of food, amazing wildlife. Thanks heaps Dave
Wonderful location, tucked away among the trees, well, it's not prepossessing on the outside (at first, 'Shack" seemed a good title!), but inside it is all one could wish for: no TV or radio reception fortunately, and a range of DVDs and CDs with a great sound system; very generous breakfast supplies (with some extra treats); fully equipped kitchen; comfortable bed; great shower in bathroom/laundry; plenty of space - kitchen, eating area, sitting room, large bedroom (upstairs), verandah for viewing the numerous pademelons and wallabies; comfortable and 'watertight'. We loved the Tassie Barrel - it worked well in heating the whole house quickly. Dave and Dru looked after us well. We would certainly stay here again!
We loved this little cottage, it seriously has everything you could need! The owners are so kind and really go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. The accommodation is honest and comfortable, there are so many little touches that we appreciated.. like the choice of 3 pillows of various styles to select. The breakfast supplies are very generous and the kitchen has everything you could ever need. We even enjoyed a nice wood fire which was built and ready, all we had to do was light it. It's nice and close to Cradle mountain, which I'd like to note has no ATM and only a basic supermarket, fine for our two nights but if staying longer you might want to look elsewhere. I guess we didn't realise until getting there just how secluded it really is. Truly beautiful part of the world and we would love to return!
Loved all the little homey touches from the hosts, very lovely people. The breakfast/snack pack was brilliant, lots of comfort food to make you feel welcome. Also loved the local wildlife that came to visit, the Pademelons and Possums are certainly entertaining. It was a great place to base ourselves and enjoy our daily trips up to Cradle Mountain and the barrel heater certainly kept us warm. Only downside was that our stay wasn't long enough and I had to study as well, so some access to the internet would have been useful to be able to connect into my student account on this occasion.

We only had a couple of nights at the love shack, and it was way too short. David and Dru are great hosts and the cabin really lived up to it's name. No phone or TV (aside from a nice selection of videos we didn't bother with), cuddling by the wood burning stove on a cool spring evening after feeding the wallabees was perfect. Our only interruption was a brush tail possum coming to the door looking for a handout. The fridge was so well stocked we didn't even need to go grocery shopping. We can't wait to return to Tasmania and spend more time at this wonderful retreat.
Words can't describe this very special place in the wilderness. David and Dru are the best host you could wish for. They went out of their way to make us feel welcome, yet they respected our privacy. The cottage itself is very clean and the hosts really thought of all the small details a traveller wishes for after a long hike or drive. We especially loved the small touches such as s lovely goodie bag, Christmas puddings, Christmas crackers and a well stocked fridge (even a bottle of bubbles). The bed is very comfortable and the hut boosts a wonderful collection of DVDs. However, you won't get bored easily as every evening the pademelons and wallabies come out. David feeds them so you can view them from the veranda. There is also a feed in the hut if you want to feed them yourself. The hut is located in the woods at 15-20 minutes from the cradle mountain visitor centre. We wished we could have stayed longer! Highly recommended!
