Having spent the day at Agfest ( large rural show ) we arrived to pleasent staff . We got our keys and headed off to Oak cottage. The fire was laid and was roaring in no time . The cottage was clean and well laid out . The loft bed was very comfy . We enjoyed a walk through the grounds before settling in with a bottle red and a roaring fire .
We would recommend the place and enjoyed our stay .

I did not stay within the property but was keen to view the buildings and gardens within. I was surprised to learn of a Cafe within the old servant's quarters and the meals were reasonably priced, and I felt to complement this property it possibly needs more promotion. I joined a tour of the old house, and the Guide was excellent, but I was disappointed to know that interior photos could not be taken?
The new Italianate style of the front which was previously the back of the house bears witness to the Archer family's security and increasing prosperity, and the collection of property that originated in England six generations ago was outstanding. I did try to purchase a postcard depicting the interior of the House but there was nothing on offer!

Where are the flowers?? Barron landscape!

We came and were so disappointed in the sheer lack of anything in the rooms we left and had to book alternate accommodation. Sadly we had no breakfast provisions as mentioned while booking, not even extra pillows. It felt cramped and very isolated. Having back issues a good bed is important, the bed here was poor quality. For my husband and I this was not what we were lead to believe.

We stayed at Woolmers just for 1 night in January. Our last night in Tasmania and it left very warm feelings. We arrived to Woolmers late in the evening and the place seemed to be absolutely deserted as if the huge estate was just for us only. But the cottage was ready, breakfast basket prepared and even the fireplace filled with logs and cones. It was great fun for children first to run after chickens ( hope they were not stressed) and then to sit at the fire.
Even if you do not plan to stay overnight there, the visit to Woolmers estate is highly recommended. The house tour is very interesting.

Woolmers is an historical estate set in the countryside not far out of Lonfgord. Accomodation is in a number of cottages. The cottages are rennovated but I suspect not recently, though there is absolutley no problem with them. They are clean and comfortable. You are staying for the experience of sleeping on an historic property and it certainly fulfills this requirement. The cottage we stayed in had both a bath and shower and full cooking faciltiies. There is no restaurant on site (for dinner or breakfast) but Lonfgord is just a few kilometres down the road and has a good supermarket.

We toured the main house and found it very interesting. You can also walk around the property, down to the river and around the National Rose Garden. We were glad it wasn't too hot as the cottage had only one window with an insect screen. Watch out for the chickens, they are everywhere and like to try and get your food!

We spent a night in Cherry Garden cottage, it was delightful, as the weather had turned cold and wet the log fire and decanter of port was appreciated. We ordered a dinner hamper from the cafe that was excellent it made our night. We would thoroughly recommend staying at Woolmer's

Stayed in Medlar cottage in early june. Self contained with good kitchenette and laundry for those travelling around tassie, wood fire that kept the only cottage warm. Plenty of wood inside, but more could be collected from outside.

Lovely bathroom with a deep bath, very relaxing!
