“Home away from Home.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 April 2012

We were both very weary and looking for a relaxing Easter Break and we certainly found it at Tranquilles. We spent 5 nights in this delightful home, the welcome from Cathy, Peter and Paris made us feel at home right from the start. The friendly service and delicious home cooked breakfasts and dinners were exceptional. We have stayed in B&B's worldwide and this is as good as it gets, well done Cathy and Peter we will call again.

We stayed last week for our second night of our trip to Tasmania for our anniversary. Cathy was lovely and welcoming, and Paris the dog was outstandingly entertaining. We stayed in the Shearwater Room and had an excellent sleep - it is very quiet.

After having both the cooked and continental breakfasts we felt it was good value. We wished we had had dinner there the previous night instead of the awful food at the local fish and chip shop instead. Far from not offering a hot breakfast, as well as the continental, bacon and eggs etc were clearly listed on a blackboard in the cafe area, as well as offered straight away by Cathy.

We loved our stay and recommend this B&B.

Room Tip: The room was not huge but I've never seen a huge room in a B&B anyway.

After a long long day trip on the Spirit we arrived late at Tranquilles. Cathy was so welcoming and offered a cup of tea and tasty home made cake to help us relax. It was late but she was so inviting and we sat and chatted. Beautiful room in house, with body wash and shampoo available. The big breakfast of bacon, eggs, sausages, baked beans and tomato washed down with brewed coffee was very enjoyable as we missed out on dinner the night before. Felt really at home with the hosts and will definatley be taking my Mum there, she will absolutely love the restaurant with its cheery decor.

Rooms are generally small with not a lot a lot of room to move around except for the their most expensive suit which however comes across as bit dated....!
The advertised bottle of bubbly turned out to be small piccolo bottle of Yellowglen Pinot Gris hidden in the cupboard and not in the fridge....., while Chocolates are 4 pieces of chocolates that you give away in kid's birthday party... worst thing was the advertised cooked breakfast option deliberately gets offered to you only after you are almost talked into accepting and starting with continental breakfast deliberately knowing very well that once you start with that you are less likely to order the cooked breakfast...... i have stayed in so many places where there is no option of cooked breakfast and usually don't even expect this however when something is clearly promised and then there is attempt to deceive customers, makes me angry .......!! host shouldn't advertise something If they are reluctant to provide what they advertise......

We are very disappointed at this review as my husband and I are very passionate about our B&B and the service we extend to our guests.
B&B accommodation generally means the rooms are inside the house therefore do not have kitchen & lounges in the same room but our guest have the use of two lounge areas and a dining room.
As far as our large suite being called “bit dated” this room has a French theme and the décor is relevant to this.
Our guest are always pleasantly surprised to receive complimentary gifts such as wine, chocolates, and home made biscuits to go with their plunger coffee or tea, plus other treats that are left in their room.
As far as the breakfast menu is concerned; we have gone to the trouble of having our own hens so we can offer our guests genuine fresh free range eggs cooked in whatever way their require. A variety of provisions for the continental breakfast is laid out on a table for the guest to help themselves. At no time do I talk guests into having continental or a cooked breakfast they are welcome to have both, the decision is entirely their own and I’m happy to oblige.

Booked off Wotif, and was happily surprised with the spa room, friendly hosts, nice sitting room, and good advice. Port Sorrell, Shearwater and Hawly Beach are nice, and would recommend staying if planning a trip back to mainland via Spirit of Boredom....

However....if you are planning a trip back via da airplane, We were advised that the cabs come from Devonport, and charge approx $90, depite Tranquilles only being approx 10-15mins away from Devonport airport.

Otherwise, enjoyable stay, breakfast with home made bread the highlight..

Room Tip: ask for the spa suite

Had a great bathroom and comfortable bed. We didn't use it much, but the conservatory was a comfortable spot to relax and read or have a cuppa. Lovely friendly hosts. Great home made bread at breakfast.

My partner and I stayed for 1 night. The night before we were due to arrive, our hostess Cathy called to say she might not be there when we did arrive. Firstly, I appreciate the phone call, I've never had that happen before. We arrived and drove into what I'd describe as paradise..quiet, serene and lovely to look at. As we were a bit early, we went to have lunch at the local takeaway Aqua...the fish and chips were fabulous! We came back and were greeted by the gorgeous Paris and his wonderful owner Cathy! We had a lovely room, comfy bed, terrific spa bath, chocolates, coffee, heating, electric blanket, everything we could want. We went out for dinner, came back, spent time with Cathy and Peter in front of their fire and had a few laughs and found out we had mutual friends! In the morning we were treated to a scrumptious brekky, fresh juice, cereal, eggs, bacon, toast and homemade rolls, with butter and coffee! All in all a lovely getaway, which we hope to do again. Thank you for your hospitality!!
