“What a revolting, expensive meal!!”
Reviewed 30 October 2012

Don't eat here unless their regular cook is on duty! We arrived and met the chef who told us he was helping out for a few days. As there was nowhere else to eat in the town, we thought why not? I ordered the beef and guiness pie and when it arrived it was just a large mound of cold puff pastry served with cold vegetables.. My husband eats anything, but even he complained. The next day on the river cruise which was very pleasant we found out that other travellers also had a similar experience. THe meals were not cheap and were very disappointing to say the least. They really need to find a good replacement cook.

“Bad & overpriced food”
Reviewed 17 October 2012

After reading the previous review, we thought that we'd give it a go...well, we shouldn't have! The service is pleasant and all the old photos are nice. But the food is bad, really bad (even though they put forward in the menu the use of local produce in mostly "homemade" dishes): overcooked steack, packaged sauce, mostly frozen seafood. On top of that, it is as expensive as a fancy pub in Melbourne: more than 30$ for steack! Do yourself a favour: Save your time and money and cook the wonderful local produce yourself!

“Good food and country hospitality”
Reviewed 19 September 2012

The people were friendly the instant we walked into the tavern. We were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food. It came out to our table HOT and plenty of it. Lots of flavour and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We loved how their were old photos of the area around all the walls and spent quite a lot of time having a look at them all.
