Stanley Seaview Inn rates tops, in rooms, service, comfort and view. Could not ask for more. Watching the sun rising and setting adding a different perspective of the view all from your room of the township and The Nut.

Stayed two nights at the Seaview Inn. Beaut two bedroom villa with balcony. Basic, honest accommodation that is good value for money but needing the touches of a handyman, blown bulb, 2nd TV only has two channels. Web site and brochures at info centre show a restaurant at Seaview Inn, Nah, it's closed down. Too far to walk into Stanley and back for a meal so it is necessary to drive. Plenty of places to eat in Stanley however they are all closed for the winter except for the pub, a chippy and a pizza joint. First day lunch at chippy, nice enough and worth the long wait but not worth the price. Some fishing boats are based in Stanley but you can't buy any fresh seafood anywhere. You can buy frozen scallops at the very dodgy aquarium ( do NOT go there) only 100 mtrs from the scallop processing plant but they are $4.00 per Kg dearer than in Hobart. Lunch first night at pub, ok grub but very limited choice on menu and $38 for a small steak with seafood sauce containing two prawns and 3 scallops and a few chips. Cooked eggs and bacon in room for breakfasts. Take all supplies with you as Stanley has but one small grocery shop and their limited stock has price tags that suggest their customers are millionaires. Kitchenette needs more cooking utensils etc. Ate inside as it was pissing down and bloody windy for the two days. Nice though. Second day lunch at Doughboys bakery in nearby Smithton, Brilliant pies and pastries, Decent shops there too. Most of Stanley's were closed for the winter. Second night tea was takeaway pizzas from Sealers Cove at Stanley. Excellent, especially the satay chicken. Wish we'd eaten there first night but they were closed. They have an eatin restaurant but that was closed. Couldn't go up The Nut, Stanley's main attraction, too steep for us to climb and of course the chair lift was closed for the winter. Thought we'd go for a boat trip to see the seals, nah, closed for the winter.
CONCLUSION- Go to Stanley, Stay at the Seaview Inn, but ensure you have a room with cooking facilities. You can see all Stanley has to offer in less than a day but a couple of days chillaxing at the Seaview Inn taking in the wonderful view will recharge your batteries and makes it worth the drive. We shall return.
STANLEY, WAKE UP AND OPEN UP. OPEN AND THEY WILL COME.

Room Tip: Get a room with cooking facilities and a balcony. If you want to do the tourist stuff, DO NOT GO IN...

I am sorry that you found information that indicated that we have a restaurant.
It has been closed for close to two years now - and I thought that I had managed to remove all references to it. Do you recall where you found the old brochure and which website you seen it on?

Overall we found our room to be of good standard and value for money
. A few maintenance jobs needed - the door into the main room needs adjusting, it drags and cannot be fully closed. The globe in the entrance has blown or is not working. The kitchenette includes a microwave but is not equipped with any microwave utensils/bowls.
Stanley is a lovely little village and the walk into the village is just a pleasant stroll.

The seaview inn was wonderful place to stay - shame the restaurant is closed but the accommodation itself if great and good value . Highly recommend it .Make sure you get a room with a view and a balcony .The nut the town and the sea eagles are all worth watching on a quiet morning while eating breakfast.

Room Tip: get one with a view and balcony - you can see the Sea ( hence the same ) , the nut , and watch the s...

We recently returned from our first trip to Stanley and plan to return! Loved the Seaview so much! Clint is very informed and helpful, the room was clean and warm (essential in mid July). There was a fun playground for the kids, breakfast available...I could go on...but the most spectacular think about the Seaview for us? The VIEW! This is truly one of the most beautiful and picturesque places in the world! The only drawback? The chairlift to the top of the nut doesn't run in winter. We agree with the Seaview Inn that it was a pity as they are not taking advantage of the winter visitors. Perhaps Clint can show those in charge our post! :) Thank you Clint and the Seaview Inn!!

Room Tip: For a family, the two bedroom suite has space and amazing views, plus next to the playground.

WOW!! What a wonderful review :)
Thank you so much.
I am thrilled that you found our property and Stanley so enjoyable.
We will keep working on the businesses that close over winter, but thankfully we live in a place where business owners are free to operate when ever they choose.
Thanks again,
Clint.

We were late arriving and the owners kindly left a welcome note and the key to our room easy to find. We were made feel very welcome and the room was clean & warm. However the breakfast prices (which we didn't avail of) was very expensive and the room itself we felfcould definitely do with an update, not so much for local TAS guests but more so for overseas travellers. Oh and the free WI-FI was very welcome.
