Stayed in one of their cabins and was pleasantly surprised how well laid out the park was.
The cabin was old, but clean and had everything needed for a long or short stay, with all utensils and cleaning gear supplied.
The park itself has 2 laundries and a cafe that serves excellent food for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and with a bottle shop next to the cafe it is definitely a one stop park.
Only a 5 minute walk to the centre of town along the waterfront made for a pleasant experience

After checking the tariff of the property across the road from Anchor Down, we popped in to see Max, who offered us a spacious 2 bedroom unit for a very good price - enough to pay for a good night's sleep PLUS our dinner.

The unit was very spacious, a little dark but very clean and tidy. Although slightly dated (blue swirly carpet and wood panel walls), the kitchen was brilliant - had everything we needed, the bathroom modern and spacious, and the bedrooms just fine. What sold me was the little touches around the unit that really added some personality to the place.

Tiny little cards with affirmations on them were placed beside the beds, and on the tables. "You, too, are a unique pattern" was one of them. The sheets also weren't your bog-standard hotel sheets, but nice soft cotton ones with embroidery on them - it really made the rooms personal. Biscuits on the table were a nice touch too.

The beds were very comfortable, and the location just a couple of minutes walk to Molly's, a perfectly good diner where sweet'n sour pork, Chinese fried rice, pizza, all kinds of good food is available at a reasonable price.

The best part of the stay was Max. His friendly personality, coupled with sharp wit, makes him just a genuinely nice person, and it was a pleasure to meet him.

All in all, this was a lovely little stopover and after traipsing round town looking at single overpriced hotel rooms, a very pleasant and enjoyable surprise to find such value for money.

Going with tripadvisor reviews, We stayed in the 'Platypus Spa Cabin'. The reviews were right it was a cosy, private cabin due to the balcony opening onto a little creek rather than looking at the neighbours cabin. But the price was too much and the cabin needed some maintenance, which we reported. The position of the Holiday Park is good because it is in a quiet area and away from the main shops etc. its an easy walk to all the attractions.

Room Tip: 'The Platypus spa Cabin'

For an average park, it's expensive at $39 per night for a powered site. Facilities are satisfactory without being flash. There isn't a lot of choice in Strahan so you get what you get. It's not a Big4 any more so the advertising is downright confusing.

We had a 3 bed room cabin just outside the park. It was clean and the beds were ok the managers friendly but the place need big money spent on it. The bathroom would not pass Health and Safety no rails for the older clients to step into the spa to have a shower which is in the spa. I would never stay there again and I would not refer it to friends. The owner needs to step up to the plate and spend some of the money he gets by charging expensive fees.

Room Tip: Just find somewhere else
