“Peaceful”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 June 2014

Went down for my birthday getaway with my husband. Rooms very dated, balcony had not been cleaned and had cobwebs all over it- but think they are about to renovate. Beds really comfortable. Was looking forward to watching a movie in bed on one of the nights as it was pouring with rain and not much was open, there was no movie channel or options to get any from reception. Resort itself is very basic - a gym or some form of entertainment to do at night would be a great asset.
Boat trip was great - staff very knowledgeable.

Dear Lucie,

Strahan is a peaceful place with beautiful surroundings and we are pleased you chose to celebrate your birthday with us.

Over the coming months, we will be making general improvements in and around the village including a general spring clean of the rooms and public areas. Your feedback regarding entertainment in the evenings, including a movie channel and gym facilities is appreciated and has now been added for our review.

Your time taken to provide us with this feedback is greatly appreciated, and we hope to welcome you back for your next celebration.

Kindest regards
Robert O'Brien

The view was absolutely awesome but it was a bit pricey for the age and decor of the place . Air conditioner did not work properly woke up freezing , expected some deduction which didn't happen . Very friendly possums on balcony

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with feedback on your recent stay.

My sincerest apologies regarding issues with your air conditioner during your stay and am disappointed we didn't resolve this upon your departure.

Over the coming months, we will be making general improvements in and around the village as well as a refresh for some of our rooms. We agree that Strahan is a beautiful place and we hope these improvements will complement the awesome views, improve our guest experiences and ensure the return of our friendly possums.

Should you wish to discuss anything further regarding your stay, please feel free to contact me directly at the hotel.

Kindest regards

When we booked Strahan Village we were told we couldn't book the waterfront cottages (which have stayed in before and were very happy with) as they were closed over winter for renovations. On arriving we saw people were booked into these cottages and told they would be opened for at least another month - we would have been very happy if we had been able to book and stay in these cottages. As my husband and I were also bringing our 2 Mothers, we were advised to book 2 Hilltop Rooms. All advertising for the Strahan Village promotes great views... instead all we got were rooms up the back overlooking the car parks and bush out the back. The rooms were very old, outdated and depressing. We were advised because we were so late arriving (3.30pm!!!) that we missed out having rooms close to each other, the rooms were as far apart as possible, making it hard to care for our Mothers. I realise that they would like you to use their restaurant, but it would be nice to have a couple of bowls or even a toaster so we could have prepared a small snack for ourselves.
We did go to the restaurant for tapas which was on that night and we were very happy with the food and service.
Please - advise when customers will not be getting views, as I would have been happy to pay extra for the beautiful views available.

Room Tip: Make sure you ask for views and a renovated room. The 'family' rooms have an extra room, wh...

Thank you for providing a review. I’m glad to hear you enjoyed your stay, and will pass on your compliments to team at the Gordon River Cruise. You’re right, it does get very cold in Strahan, particularly over winter!

Great view and private balcony, looking down on the Main Street and Bay able to watch the boats come in. The unit was comfortable with the bed on a mezzanine level. Very clean. Log fires in the lounge/ eating areas, it was the off season so very limited food available at night.

recently my husband and i spent 7 days in tasmania i have to say Strahan was my Favourite place to stay of all, the boat ride out to the wilderness area was amazing and not to be missed well worth every cent, the apartments at strahan village are amazing and so are the staff.

Everything was clean tidy and could not fault a think we stayed an extra night due to the town and the rooms being so wonderful,so we booked the waterfront rooms with a spa ,we didnt realy want to leave.

We had a lovely trip and stay. Staff we're very welcoming and certainly worth the visit. The facilities were very good , view 42 restuarant was excellent, with a great idea of having salads and nicely cooked vegetables available so you could pick what you liked particularly if you didn't like salads as my other half doesn't, food was excellent including breakfast. The only thing that wasn't available was free wi fi in the rooms. We travelled overseas last year and nearly all the hotels we stayed in had free wi fi. The cruise was excellent and we were provided with a lovely lunch on board. Make sure you take warm clothes. We would definitely come back. Great weekend well done guys
