We spent 2 nights at Aldemere Estate in February sharing the unit with another couple. The manager was very helpful and pleasant. We did not find the accommodation suitable for 2 couples sharing a unit as there is one large ensuite bedroom with a king bed upstairs and a very small room with a double bed and cross hall bathroom downstairs. The television in the living area was very small and a bit of a relic and there was no WiFi or internet access in the units. The only heat downstairs is from a gas fireplace unit which we had difficulty starting. The unit was clean and there was a free laundry room. We didn't use the kitchen but it appeared decently equipped. There is no comfortable outdoor seating. In addition it is a little too far to walk to the restaurants in town for dinner. Difficult if you want to have wine with dinner.

We did the Gordon River Cruise with the World Heritage Group and loved it.

When you come to Strahan this is a great place to stay. The apartment is large, full kitchen and free washing/drier on premises.
It is perfectly situated if you have a car.
The owner is very helpful in telling you where dining is best and what river cruise company to use.
Sheree, the hostess is excellent.
Only positive things to say.

Room Tip: we had room 8 which had two bedrooms and was great

This would have to be the best accomodation I have stayed in EVER! Hostess Sheree was amazing, her knowledge of the town & the entertainment, best eateries etc was second to none!
Aldermere was so busy & fully booked for the three nights I stayed & was, however Sheree still had time to advise & provide maps to help us make the most of our stay.
By far the cleanest most pristine & well presented apartments we have ever stayed in, (worth every cent & more)!
The Gordon River cruise & the ABT Wilderness railway are an absolute treat & missing these two experiences in Strahan would be a big mistake.
The weather was absolutely amazing even by locals standards! We will be back this time next year!

Thanks Sheree,

Julie McVilly

We had 2 nights at Aldermere in Jan. 2013 and thoroughly enjoyed it. The accommodation was just perfect for what we wanted. It had lovely furniture and a fully equipted kitchen. It was very clean, quiet and comfortable. there was not anything we needed that was not there. Sheree was a great hostess, very informative of everything there was to see and do in Strahan and offered options of where to dine, We recommend staying at Aldermere. We stayed here for three nights in early jan 2013 and were very impressed. We checked in on what was the hottest day in tassie for many years and Sheree looked like she was about to expire! It didn't stop her from getting out a map and sketching out some ideas for our three days. In fact she had been more than helpful on the phone when we booked and had suggested the purchase of an entertainment book which paid for itself many times over. It made the premium cruise far more reasonable with 25% off. Every tip sheree gave was spot on. As to the accommodation, absolutely spotless and first class. We were a party of 4.Two adults two kids and fitted in the 2 BR using a bed couch in the downstairs lounge. The sort of things that really drive me wild for instance not supplying dishwashing liquid or laundry detergent are unheard of here. It is all laid on. Want a video or DVD, just go in and take it free of charge and if you want a book from the ample collection just take it. She said if we hadn't finished it by the time we left just to take it with us. These little things make such a difference. They don't cost much but change the vibe signifcantly. You can't go wrong going to Aldermere. By the way, if you are going to do the western wilderness railway and the Gordon cruise, i'd strongly suggest upgrading on the cruise. It was fantastic. We took our kids on the Lady Jane Franklin 2 evening cruise. They felt really spoilt as we all did and it was well worth the money with an excellent dinner served. So Aldermere comes highly recommended.
