This is a stunning scenic trip up the King River valley. Soaring trees overhead and steep sided ravines with the rail line clutching the side. Dramatic. A great day trip - must do.

I'm sure the train would be lovely.....if you manage to get on it. Unfortunately the incompetent staff over booked the train and we missed out even though we booked over a month in advance. After driving for over 3 hours to get to Queenstown, paying for a weekends accommodation and two of the family members having to change work commitments, this was a terrible experience and I hope they don't manage to do it to anyone else.

Wow is all I can say. The scenery was fantastic and the service great. We went Premium class and started the journey with a glass of Janz champagne and the food and drink did not stop. The narration was interesting without being intrusive and the seats were comfy with large windows to look out of.

We paid a little bit extra and got the premium seats, thought it was worth the doing this, we got an excellent discount through the tasmanian Entertainment Book.

Beautiful scenery, fantastic carriages, great food and drink. Very interesting commentary, we learnt a lot about this area.

I would highly recommend
