great small hall feel to enjoy the greats of all times. Huge names as well as excellent lesser known names show up on this sign board daily. It great to be up close and personal in this Kent downtown renovated movie theatre. It really unbelievable, from Todd Rudgren, Bruce Cockburn to local acts. It can't be beat. The cultural mecca of Kent! Friends and family feel welcome here!! snack foods at the site but LOTS to choose from within walking distance (across the street) in the newly renovated Kent downtown called Acorn Alley.

The Kent Stage is a cooperative community effort to bring entertainment to Kent, Ohio. Originally a silent movie theater, the Theater has excellent acoustics and with 640 seats you can't really get a bad seat... while not the fanciest venue it is one of the most sincere. Highly recommended!

From thekentstage.com, "The Kent Stage is the host of approximately 150 concerts a year, the Kent Folk Festival, the Kent Blues Fest, Kent Reggae Fest, the Kent State Around Town Music Festival, film festivals and numerous plays."

The Kent Stage just oozes with nostalgia. Whether it's the worn out seats of an abandoned movie theater or the acts that thrilled us decades ago, there's just something comfortable and familiar about this place that makes you feel at home. Even the somewhat musty smell helps take you back to the 50's and 60's when the theater was in its heyday. Old acts include rock and rollers of the 50's, British invasion acts from the 60's, folk artist from way back when to the present and Rocky Horror Picture Show on Saturday night at midnight. It is a great eclectic place to spend and evening. Don't expect anything new or up to date. But the "time stood still" charm is worth the sacrifice of modern comfort.

This is an older movie theater converted to a live performance stage with outstanding sound and excellent seating. It books a number of first rate folk acts or their equivalent. If you like folk music (in the broad sense) you are more likely to hear your favorite artist here than anyplace else in the midwest. Check out their website for upcoming acts. It's close to cleveland and certainly worth the drive. Beer and wine available. Parking is easy and free. I'd rather attend a show here than almost anywhere in Cleveland.
