Cute quiet cabin set back in the woods, we sat on the porch every night of the stay with the dog and listened to the creaking of the trees. It was the best hocking hills experience I could have asked for!

The cabin was warm, cozy and quiet. We had a nice visit with the owner, Beth. We had things in common because we are pet lovers and so is she.
We will return to her cabin the next time we visit Hocking Hills.
Thanks Beth,
David and Kay

What a great time we had at Honey Ridge for New Years. This was our 4th stay over New Years and our 6th so far in the last 8 years. The accommodations are top notch and pet friendly to boot. Very clean and spacious . We thoroughly enjoy kicking back, relaxing and enjoying the quiet. The view out the back deck over looking the wooded area is quite peaceful, serene and private. This cabin is a gem and doesn't disappoint. The owners made every effort to make our stay as enjoyable as possible by providing information on hiking, activities, restaurants and amenities in the area.

“Unplug, detach, and rest.”

My husband and I were looking for a long weekend getaway within a reasonable distance of Cleveland to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. We love to hike and thought this would be a perfect place.
The Honey Ridge cabin itself is really great. It had everything we could have wanted in order to stay in for food and meals. The kitchen is stocked with every utensil you could need to cook. There are small quantities of olive oil, vinegar, flour, sugar, etc. They even have plastic bags to store your sandwiches in to take hiking.
I recommend packing a cooler with all the groceries you'll need for a few days at least. There's a grocery at the Wal-Mart in Logan, and a Kroger in another town, but these are not easy to get to. Arrive prepared. Once you've made the long drive in, you're not going to want to go back out in the dark to find food. This place is ready for you and your food. Just pull in and start cooking.
The cabin is on a wooded property. There is very little yard save for a fire pit area on one side and a little grassy area. If you have little kids that like to run around, you'll want to keep an eye on them, otherwise they'll end up running into the woods. I saw lots of cool bugs that I haven't seen since my school days camping. (Go ahead, laugh...I'm a city slicker).
There is a small TV with satellite channel service. This is pretty much the only connection to civilization, in addition to the land phone line. There is no WiFi, and no cell phone service. Depending on your view, this is either fantastic or horrible. I definitely felt the effects of complete disconnection the first day. By the second I was used to it. But this means you have to plan ahead before you leave for Honey Ridge. Buy or print out paper road maps, search for phone numbers of services, get trail maps ... EVERYTHING -- ahead of time. We're used to having all information at our fingertips in the phone age, and this area is the land that time forgot. Plan ahead. I was waiting for a phone call from my doctor and had to drive to Logan to receive it. Also, if you have any medical conditions, be aware that you are a a ways away from help. Living in the Cleveland area, I know an ambulance will be at my house in 15 minutes if I need it. Things here are very very very far apart. (This goes for the area as a whole, not just Honey Ridge.)
The bath tub is a definite luxury in the cabin. It was nice to have a big tub for us to soak in, both at the same time. I can imagine it would feel especially nice to have a steamy bath in the middle of winter. There was always plenty of hot water, and water and septic systems worked perfectly. The A/C was a blessing for some unusually humid nights.
It was also great being able to bring our dog. He loves to hike, and it was nice having him with us rather than having to board him back home.
Aside from Honey Ridge here's a note on the recreation in Hocking Hills generally to help you plan:
The caves are stunning and are very good for photography. They were much more accessible than I thought they would be. The trails to most of the sites are quite short, less than .5 miles in most cases, and are either handicap accessible (Ash Cave) or made easier to ascend/descend with man-made stairs. I was expecting some heavy-duty hiking, but these caves are really more tourist spots. That's not to diminish their wonder, but it's not for a trekker. There were some options to do the Buckeye Trail, and a couple other trails, but I thought they were to the other extreme -- all climbing hills and exceptionally rigorous. We did a 5-mile canoe trip, and that was fun. However, we've had little rain this second half of summer, and the drought caused us to run aground in shallow water at least half a dozen times. Be prepared with water shoes because you're going to shove off quite frequently.
In summary, this is a great cabin for a couple looking to spend time together without any distractions. Kids might go a little crazy and would need some structured activities. There are lots of things to do in the area, from hiking, to canoeing, to zip lining, etc. It's all quite a bit of driving to get to where you want to go. Plan ahead, or simply stay at home in the cabin.
The advantage Honey Ridge has over other places is that it has amenities like home (e.g., full kitchen, whirlpool bath). You can hang out in a location that is very private. You can bring furry family members, stay in, and chill out. Completely disconnect and remember what it's like to talk to one another or sit quietly with your thoughts.

Absolutely fantastic! If you're looking for seclusion you'll find it in this cabin. Wooded area with little to no cell reception unless you drive out into Logan which is about 30 minutes away. The amenities were even better than described; the jacuzzi tub is HUGE and will easily accommodate 2 adults. The cabin is stocked with everything you could ever need. Cabin owners are extremely friendly and most gracious. I highly recommend this lovely (and affordable!) cabin if you're looking for a cabin in the Hocking Hills area that is off the beaten path.

This was a wonderful trip that our family needed. It was a cozy home away from home. Great place we loved. I loved the seclusion of the property and how close it was to the places we had planned on going. I loved the fact that there was no cell phone reception and that there was no internet because it meant quietness and family together time. I would definitely recommend this to anyone wanting to get away and enjoy some nature and time away.
