“I look forward to returning every year!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 September 2013

This is a beautiful place!! A great getaway to destress. Good for a quiet couple getaway as well as a friends getaway. Two girlfriends and I have rented the same cabin (Hickory Hollow) 7 years in a row. Every year we look forward to the quiet setting, tasty breakfast, awesome spa treatments, hiking the trails of Hocking Hills and just relaxing in the cabin or sitting the deck. They even have fresh made cookies waiting for you when you arrive in your room, cottage or cabin :)

They have a great fire pit area for evening fires plus hammocks and lawn chairs to spend some time reading a book or looking at the stars on a clear night.

We bring our own food to fix for lunch and dinner. The cabin has a refrigerator, oven/stove, and gas grill. The Inn Keepers and staff are friendly and helpful. Their gift shop is very nice too. We always leave relaxed, refreshed and rejuvenated and look forward to our return.
We even reserve our dates for the next year when we check out.

If you entertain the thought of visiting during the winter months, I suggest that you do! Don't let the snow or cold keep you away!! My husband and I spent two nights at the Inn one February a few years ago. We arrived 2 days after a strong snow/ice storm had gone through the area. We hiked to Ash Falls and Cedar Falls. The ice sculptures that were created by the waterfalls were amazing!! Nature at it's finest :) The evening meal was as awesome as their breakfasts.

A girls getaway, what fun! Glad to hear you return again and again with them. And,bring your hubby for a visit too. Winter is favorite season of mine too. The frozen ice formations will be here soon.

I finally had a chance to check out the Inn at Cedar Falls last weekend. I've been hearing and reading about the chef and the Inn and Spa since we arrived in Columbus five years ago. It was amazing - top to bottom! The food is delicious, the grounds are engaging and beautiful, the cabins are the perfect mix of rustic and well-appointed, the spa services were relaxing. We came in with high expectations and they were exceeded.

LOVED IT!! My husband and I visited to celebrate our 10th anniversary and were delighted. The food and service were impeccable and we can't wait to go back. Don't waste your time eating anywhere else. Every time a plate was set before me, it was the best food I'd ever tasted. We had reservations to eat at the Grouse Nest on our second night but loved the food at the Inn so much that we tried to squeeze in there instead. Although they were willing to serve us at 8:45, we declined since it was too late. Another one of the staff overheard our quandary and recommended a nice local restaurant nearby (The Ridge Inn) that was so homey I would have thought I was family!

We had a couples massage which was wonderful and very relaxing. We stayed in the Meadowlark room, which was very clean, homey, and quiet. Next time we will be spending a little more and staying in one of the cabins though.

The only suggestion I would make is that they spring for an espresso machine, as I love a good latte and had to travel to Laurelville to get one (The Ridge Inn again!).

Our only regret is that it took us 10 years to find this place... we will return again and again!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Meadowlark room but next time will spend a little more for a cabin.

Glad you experienced everything we have to offer...rooms, dining and spa. Trying a cottage or cabin next time is a great idea. Each one is different. As you discovered, dinner reservations will guarantee a place at dinner!

We had a short family holiday here recently, and we were really impressed by the inn. To begin with, I was impressed by the fact that the inn accepts children in the cabins, as it is really hard to find a nice place to stay in the Hocking Hills when you have kids.

We stayed in a cabin which was immaculately clean. The kitchen was very well-equipped. The rooms were roomy but cosy, the beds were comfortable, and the whole place was nicely furnished. The owners have obviously thought through what people might need very carefully. There were board games, a DVD player, and torches in case you stayed out late and needed to make your way down the lane in the dark. There were cosy robes and slippers. There was a peaceful porch and the living room looked out on the forest. The gardens at the inn were lovely. There was a lovely meditation garden and a well-tended rooftop garden with beautiful flowers and a swing. The breakfast was very nice, even if the portions were not huge.

The staff were extremely personable and helpful. We were welcomed by a lady who gave us tips on the best places to take kids. The waitresses at breakfast were very attentive too.

The inn is also hugely convenient for the sights of the Hocking Hills. I would strongly recommend it for any family holiday.

It is much more pleasant pretending to be a pioneer in an updated 1840 cabin than the real thing. This is a very spiritual and lovely place. It has hotel rooms also but more fun in a cabin. The staff at the inn are extremely helpful. The meditation garden and roof garden are lovely. The darkness and silence at night are a revelation for urban dwellers. Very renewing and beautiful with deer, rabbits etc. all around in this deep forest.

Room Tip: If you like being close to nature go for the cabin, if you need a bit more luxury a hotel room.

Delighted you found the respite you needed while staying with us. Next time try the hammocks for a nap or reflection while star gazing.

This really must be a restaurant review, too because the evening meal in the restaurant was the best I've had in recent memory. Sooooo goooood! Freshest salad...greens probably from their garden...of course, and then the filet mignon...oh, my goodness..."medium well" was PERFECTLY medium well unlike other places that can err on either end...and the tiny asparagus shoots...oh, my goodness...and there was an ample serving of very good mashed potatoes but the filet and the asparagus drew almost all of my attention. And then...the crème brulee...well, just the best ever and with one of my university student groups in Europe years ago, someone always ordered crème brulee at every evening meal so we could conduct our official research...but we never came close to this chef's crème brulee. So incredibly yummy! Often I skip dessert but the offer of being able to update my "research" was too inviting and am I ever glad I ordered it. Oh, my goodness! The best ever! It was PawPaw crème brulee but I've heard that their pineapple or pumpkin versions are equally awesome. Maybe some more "research" is needed?

The Inn is currently trying to replace its former incredible chef and the chef that night was being given a chance to step up...well, she surely exceeded every one of my expectations.

Oh...I guess something should be said about the abiding restfulness of the inn, that serenity that pervades the whole Hocking Hills area, the communes with awesome nature in the walks in the state park, the gracious hospitality of the entire staff in the inn and in the restaurant, the delicious and accommodating breakfast that comes with the room reservation, the availability of cold bottled water and on-tap hot water for hot drinks in the hospitality room within the hotel room building...A location that defines R & R.

Room Tip: Difficulty in walking could be an issue. Up a small bit of stairs to the stone walkway up a slight...

The reception was so welcoming and easily taken care of. We had a wine & cheese snack waiting for us and enjoyed snacking on the porch in rocking chairs while the sun set and birds sang. The room was beautiful and comfy. The best sleep we have had in a while. We biked in Athens to Nelsonville one day and hiked to Cedar Falls the next day. The breakfasts were healthy and delicious! Our dinner was cozy and wonderful. The waitstaff was professional and very friendly! Loved all the garden delights with our meal. Relaxing pace to the meal and great attention to detail! Our mixed drinks were different and creative. So nice to have a comfy room to come back to after a day of exercise. We'll definitely be back. Thanks for all the great service.

Room Tip: The Cardinal Room was quiet, cozy and peaceful!
