“Back to basics”
Reviewed 31 May 2012

My husband and I stayed here as part of a business trip, since the next closest hotel was 25 miles away from the job,on the other side of a mountain, during winter. So we were there for several weeks and for part of those we were snowed in.It's a very basic operation, but not bad,our room were clean and homey. There aren't any amenities such as hair dryers or irons, but the hotel is located within walking distance to a Dollar General and a Family Dollar so if you forget some necessity, you are not out of luck! The staff was very friendly and helpful, several times we forgot our key and they were more than happy to provide us with another, even though it was late at night. We didn't bother with breakfast ,since it was just us staying most of the time,we didn't think it was necessary to have them put food out but it was repeatedly offered to us.but For future visitors, this place is situated in beautiful countryside, with tons of outdoor activities to do.There is a great "small town" just a few miles away, with restaurants, quaint shops,a supermarket and even a McDonald's.The hotel itself is very much like it's surroundings...simple with no frills,if you want more luxurious accomodations then continue onto Mount Vernon. But if you are there for the hiking, biking and canoeing, this little gem will suit your needs nicely.

Room Tip: There is an outdoor entrance to the rooms as well as hallway access,so if it's raining or snowin...

Don't know what happened after the last review in 2009, but it wasn't good. The place is
run down, rooms dirty, old banged up furniture, old nasty carpet, dirty walls. I could go
on and on, but you get the picture. God, only knows when the blankets were changed and we were given the minimal amout of dingy towels every day. I should have known
better when they wanted the money for the two nights up front; we usually put it on our
credit card when we leave. The Jeep parked at the end of the motel with weeds growing
under it should have given us a clue as what was to come. I am so tired of internet
reviews that are so misleading. The breakfast was a joke, weak coffee, some cereal,
and Little Debbie snacks from the Dollar Store next door. The restaurant next door
has been closed for year. There was no fruit on the so called breakfast bar, as they
had to too far for a store to get it and it justs spoils. Say what?! Do youself a favor and
believe this review because it is all true and save yourself some grief.

Room Tip: There are NO best rooms, our friends who traveled with us had a room just as bad.

There are limited options for hotels in this area, and this was a good option for us since we were going for the Mohican 100 Trail Run, and it is very close to all the important parts of the park.

The staff is very friendly and agreed to let us stay a little past checkout in case our runner needed to come back to take a shower. The rooms were clean, but a little stuffy when the air is off. No little niceties like shampoo and lotion. However, there is a great continental breakfast. Lots of variety and a nice sunny room where you can sit at a table and eat. This was our second time there, and we've reserved our rooms for next year already.

Overall a great, close alternative to the Mohican River Lodge where we stayed 2 years ago.

When you first arrive like everywhere else they are overly friendly. Here the owner Lisa will show her true colors by the time you check out. We stayed two nights and at check out her boyfriend was going to take us on a tour of the State park with his children. Nope this didn't happen because Lisa the owner had to get all jealous. WOW come on we are married ladies. Lisa's boyfriend is a very kind man and goes out of his way for Lisa's renters to have the best vacation ever. Unfortunately he was disappointed as much as we were by the time we left.
The rooms are clean but gloomy and small. There are repairs that need to be made. And we paid way to much even after our discount.
Jose (the boyfriend) built a beautiful pond ... so pretty ... caught my attention when we first pulled up.
If you have no other choice but to stay there. FYI please do not allow yourself to be to friendly to either of them.
Customer satisfaction will happen a better rating if you just check in, say hello and check out and say goodbye!

We were in town for a 100mile bike race. Not many places to stay in Loudonville, but was able to come across this gem. It is small but very nice. Don't let the name scare you away. It is around $80 a night. It is worth the money. The property is well kept and very clean. They only have around 20 rooms, so book early as they sell out often. They do offer a cabin on premise for just a few more dollars. They also offer at least 1 room with a hot tub. It is located right off Rte 3, which will take you anywhere you want to go. It is also directly across from the Mochian Park. Many food places are located around it as well.
