I stayed at this hotel on a Sunday night after calling to check the AAA rate. When I arrived, the rate I was going to be charged was at least $20 higher than I had been quoted over the phone about 20 minutes earlier. The clerk did change it right away without any hesitation. Reasons I don't think this hotel was worth the price: 1) The water in the pool was cool; 2) My room door closed completely only if I pulled it shut; and 3) The back door closest to my room wouldn't latch shut--even after a few tries, and when I told the desk clerk about it, she said that was probably common (very nonchalant attitude about it even though anyone could access the building).

Thank you for staying with us. I am sorry that we didn't exceed your expectations. Our staff tries thier best to make sure that every guest has a pleasant stay. We do keep our pool 80-82 degrees year round, and we take security as a top priority. We will take your feedback to our department heads to see where we can improve. We also apologize about the rates being higher as there was a very large special event in town during your time spent with us thus increasing demand for rooms. We hope that you will give us another chance to provide you with excellent service should you return to Mansfield, Ohio.

Nice, clean room with a good bathroom. Free hot breakfast. . Good breakfast, but be there well in time! It's taken away a few minutes before deadline (12 AM) and if you get there 20 minutes before its hardly... good pool area and shopping censters near by...

Comparable to a higher-priced room, we prepaid and saved about $30. Perfect setup for an overnight stay while we visited friends on the first leg of a longer journey. Desk staff was friendly, and accommodated a change from our third-party reservation.

We've stayed twice as a half way point between Fl and OH. The room was clean, the kids, loved the pool and hot tub, the breakfast offered enough options; waffles, cereal, hard cooked eggs, yogurt, pastries, coffee, tea, AJ and OJ, and fresh apples... (though it would be nice to get a banana.) Desk staff was friendly and it's pet friendly too (we had our cat with us.) The lobby are was great with fire place. Free WiFi was easy to log onto and fast. there are several restaurant in walking distance such as, Apple bee, Bob Evans and a mexican place are walk to. It's not the Ritz, but as a low priced stop over, it was much better than I expected.

The Best Western Richland is an OK hotel, but not what we expected for over $100 a night (discounted rate). While the first floor room was reasonably quiet, there were flaws that made our stay less than comfortable.

These included very lumpy pillows, poor drainage (particularly in the sink), a poor shower experience (pressure seemed inadequate) and a breakfast billed as hot...but instead consisted of the usual continental breakfast items, a few microwave-heatable things and the ubiquitous waffle maker. Then there was the security door that had its handle taped open. Not exactly secure despite having a card reader. And there was a nice HDTV but alas, no HD service.

The drainage issue appeared not to be isolated to our room; one down the hall had towels spread outside it and a fan to dry the carpet.

The motel is well located, not far from the highway and with quite a few restaurants nearby. We were told there was a walking path to reach the restaurants, but ended up driving after we didn't find it.

All in all, it was an OK stay...but not worth what we paid.

Room Tip: Consider a floor other than the first; we experienced noise from above.

We recommend booking in advance if possible so that you are advised before arrival of any increase from our normal rate caused by these events. I was extremely happy with our stay and the hotel in general! Everything was clean, the staff could not have been more helpful/friendly (I can't say that enough!), and absolutely no issues with having a well behaved dog stay with us and in the room when we were out! It is not a 5-star hotel, nor does it have 5-star prices and 5-star attitudes. The breakfast room was clean, efficient and the food more than most with waffels and egg/sausage sandwiches and the pool/hot tub was well maintained, clean and nice. Again, the staff is the STAR of the place! Very helpful and just nice.

Room Tip: They have smoking and non-smoking rooms so make sure you specify which you prefer
