Stayed a weekend, and it was the worst "hotel" i've ever stayed at. The breakfast is cheap and terrible, I had a room on the 2cd level and the I could hear everything upstairs, downstairs, beside me, from flushing toilets, taking a shower, the sink, doors slamming, people running around upstairs. Not to mention my fiance was there working construction for the "resort" and could not sleep at all. It was a terrible stay. Esp when you pay $699 + ridiculous!!!!

Room Tip: Get a room on the top floor, or else you won't sleep!

We stayed on May 17,2013,

When we checked in, she gave me a room that was two doors away from the main hall way on the bottom floor. I ask about the noise since it was by the elevator etc...She said oh there is no noise. She said she couldn't give us another room because they were full. So we checked into that room took the room. the room was nice, however the noise from above us and in the hallway was a nightmare, couldn't sleep . They also don't want you to run the hot tub(IN YOUR ROOM) after 10:00 PM,BECAUSE OF NOSIE. The air in the room made more noise than the hot tub?? And with all the other noise who cares??? I really wish she would have listen to my concern and gave us a different room --but obviously no one cared enough about our stay to make an adjustment and the hotel was not full they had the vacancy sign up all night???For the big price on the room and my concern binging disregard, we won't be back. Not a place to relax.

Room Tip: chose upper rooms

We were supposed to stay for 4 nights but left after the first night. The hotel it's self is nice but has absolutely no amenities like it says it does. There is no restaurant like it says there is (well there is a restaurant but they thought it would be a smart business decision to keep the only restaurant in a 30 minute radius closed), there is no spa unless that's what they consider their mud room, and it is no where near anything that you would want to do and your balcony overlooks all the trailer parks because that's all that is around there.

My husband and I were invited by friends Sunday May 11th for the day in Oak Harbor and I decided to stay for the night in a nice and or romantic hotel instead of going back home right away. Searching over the internet I found this resort hotel that seemed adequate and I reserved a king size suite with a 2 person's whirlpool but without any of the romance packages because the room by itself was already around $200 with a low season discounted deal price.
We check in on Sunday afternoon and the welcome desk lady was very nice. She had some wine and cheese in the lobby for the guests. Also we did not tried the morning breakfast we asked and were able to enjoy a 2:00pm late check out. Our room was on the fourth floor which is the highest level of the building. It was very quiet because there were only few guests in the building but the heating-air conditioning unit in the room was a little noisy.
The room that was rather large with a balcony and a view on the lake was still a little deceiving for the couple romance ambiance. Part because the linen on the bed did not seemed to have been ironed and part because the decoration and the blue and white colors of the room made me think we were in a harbor beach apartment. As I said in the title this is more a vacation hotel with a sand volley field, two outdoor swimming pools, an easy access to the lake and small cottages for larger groups.

Room Tip: Ask for a lake view of course.

The room was great in many ways, large enough, very clean and the jacuzzi was a wonderful surprise. The view of the lake was awesome! The continental breakfast, very nice. The front desk clerk, Desa, is knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating, a true asset to The South Beach Resort.

Room Tip: Room 402 was great.

Went for the weekend to get away and relax.
Although i'm sure the summer months would be much more enjoyable, we still had a great time.
Jacuzzi was a very nice addition to the room. Clean, comfortable place to stay.
Most everything to do is on the lake side of the peninsula, but only a 10 minute drive.

I took advantage of a living social offer for the hotel. I was not disappointed. We arrived on Sunday and stayed Monday. Even though the places were closed on Monday we received such great help from the staff as to where to go and what to see we had a great getaway. Because of this we are planning a trip next summer to see more of the sights.
