“Lovely park along the river”

Side Cut park is geared towards families with plenty of open spaces for picnics along with a playground. Most times you'll find the trails filled with joggers, walkers, cyclists, etc. The view of the Maumee river is wonderful and in the spring, it is a popular place for Walleye fishermen. The wildflowers in mid to late May are my personal favorite thing about this park. Tons of deer, sometimes you'll see a few dozen.

From Cedar waxwings to white tail deer, and great blue herons to the Spring walleye run; Side Cut has it all. There is history to be discovered in the remains of the Miami-Erie Canal and the Battle of Fallen Timbers. It's great for a family picnic or a quiet walk in the woods. Several hiking, running, bike, and cross country skiing trails are available. Many are wheel chair accessible. Free admission. Come and visit as long as you want. Nature programs are provided through the Toledo area Metroparks.

Sidecut Metropark is always bustling with outdoor enthusiasts! A beautiful park that spans along the Maumee River. Several trails both inland and along the river...jogging or walking paths...tennis courts...grills...waterfountains with dog friendly spigots and water bowls. Great for quiet afternoons...family reunions...a fisherman's delight....when the river is low it's not uncommon to see families walking the bedrock across the river....perfect park to get away....celebrate...or exercise!

This park boasts many elements. It has history (old locks from the Erie Canal), environment, wildlife, bike trails, the Maumee River and a sledding hill. When the grandkids are in town this is one of the locations to which we head. We have made many memories there.

Park in the River Road lot for best access. The upper park, north of the road, features the canal locks and can be seen in a short time. South of River Road the park extends along the Maumee with miles of trails and great views, as well as pavilions and picnic areas. The park abounds with deer and birds. A great place for kids and dogs to expend their excess energy.
