Hilltop Manor Bed and Breakfast

My wife and stayed here 3 years ago under another owner and again had a great stay this year too. Maybe we are getting spoiled, but this time it didn't wow us as much and our reasons may not make sense to some. We stayed 3 nights and even though the breakfast's were crazy good, they pretty much served the same items each night. Shawn's egg's benidict were very good and was the highlight of the stay. We also felt that there is something missing when the B&B's are run by other people even though they were all so nice and friendly. You just don't get the personal feeling of staying at THEIR home. We stayed in the Maple room and the bed was very nice, but there is no place to sit if you want to watch TV or read in your room. Was somewhat unconfortable sitting up in bed with a pillow behind you.THere is an victorian couch there but very unconfortable to sit on. Again for a one night stay you can't get much better, but more than that you may get a different feeling.

Stayed there for 3 nights in early Nov. 2012-in my hometown for a wedding-had seen the b&b before, and it is very plush and totally gorgeous Victorian, for the most part. The house was built in 1885-you'd never know it, it's in such wonderful shape. Our room was pretty cold, however, on the first night, & I called (off-property,after hours) & they brought us an elec. heater! Wow! Then to impress us even more, Shawn & Rachel served us the most wonderful breakfasts-I got used to that real fast! Could not believe it. Fabulous! You need to stay at Hilltop Manor when in Amish country, in Ohio. Hey Shawn-when are you coming to Florida??! We'll have a family get-together - YOU cook! Ha!

Room Tip: I don't think there is a "bad" room in the house. The Walnut Room can be a bit chilly...

My family reserved the entire place while in town last weekend for my son's wedding. The elegance is unsurpassed yet we all felt truly at home there and very, very comfortable. The attention to detail and decor is superior. Shawn and Laurie took such wonderful care of us making sure we had everything we needed and more. Shawn's breakfasts were WONDERFUL: apple fritter french toast, eggs benedict, fresh fruit with locally made granola and yogurt. The commissary on the upper floor is a very nice touch with a Keurig, popcorn, a full frig and microwave, and wines and treats for purchase. We might make this an annual trip - it was that good.

Room Tip: The pics on their website are accurate. The most romantic would be the Sycamore Room with its large...

I was raised in this area, so I am familiar with the surroundings and won't bore you. Hubby and I came back to stay over one night while dear friends renewed their wedding vows for their 25th wedding anniversary. We found this B&B to be: decorated lovely; well restored; extremely clean; with soft and comfortable beds; plush towels; thick and warm bath robes; plenty of hot water; and a good, but not overly supurb breakfast. I would stay here again, but not with my husband, as he can't do so many stairs. This B&B is NOT handicapped friendly or accessable. The landscaping outside is beautiful. We stayed the second week of October and the weather was becoming chilly. Our bedroom evidently did not have heat, as we froze, but when we opened our door to go downstairs for breakfast, we found the hallway, etc., to be heated nicely. Also, the bathroom floor is tiled and freezing (!!!), with not a rug in sight. I did enjoy the huge, whirlpool bathtub. The room had a gas fireplace, but it doesn't give off any heat, even turned on high. The B&B also offers free Kurig coffee and tea, water, and you'll get some homemade cookies at check in. Other "treats" are available for a fee. Guests have the use of a small fridgerator, with ice, and a microwave.

Room Tip: If you're traveling during cooler months, bring thick socks or slippers as the floors are very c...

My husband and I stayed at Hilltop Manor in September. Beautiful restored home, pretty gardens, luxurious room. The area nearby is a little odd for such a fantastic B&B but was not a negative. We decided to order pizza in for dinner and relax as we were tired and not in the mood to drive. Next morning decided to take an early jog and found the rails-to-trails bike pathway just a couple of blocks due west of Hilltop Manor. What a treat to be running while encountering Amish horse and buggies on their way into town! Came back to a delicious breakfast and good conversation with the hosts and other guests. Would definitely recommend a stay here.

Stayed here for an anniversary. Totally satisfied with this B & B. Would not change a thing. No complaints whatsoever. It gets the highest marks in all categories. Will return if travel to Amish Country again.

My husband & I stayed at Hilltop Manor B&B on August 24, 2012. We booked our room through Expedia and stayed in the only available suite - the Walnut Suite. We had read the glowing reviews of Hilltop Manor & had reviewed the website prior to booking our stay. We were not disappointed. Hilltop Manor was beautifully decorated and clean. The innkeeper was extremely friendly and accommodating. The Walnut Suite was gorgeous (and spotless). The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was beautiful as well. We enjoyed the communal snack area - small snacks as well as bottles of local wine were available for a reasonable fee. Keurig coffee and teas were available as well (for free).

We woke up the next morning to the smell of breakfast food (can it get any better than that?). Hot breakfast was served at 9am (although fruit, yogurt, pastries, juice and coffee was available from 8:30am thru later in the morning). Breakfast was simply fab-u-lous. Homemade scrambled eggs with veggies and home-grown herbs, sausage, ham, french toast with bananas, and hash browns were served family style in the beautiful dining room. We would absolutely recommend Hilltop Manor. We can't wait to stay there again.
