“Lovely, Relaxing Stay”
Reviewed 26 July 2014

This was a lovely stay. The room was spacious and clean, and the atmosphere very relaxing. Wildlife abound – saw plenty of deer (including fawns), groundhogs, raccoon, and birds. (The groundhogs and raccoons come right up because unfortunately people feed them.) The view of the lake is very pretty. The lodge has both indoor and outdoor pools, a game room, a practice putting green, a younger age children’s playground, kayak and bike rentals, and a shuffle board area. The décor was lovely, rustic, light and airy. I would stay again.

Hotel and indoor pool area could use a refresh but staff was nice and helpful. We left a phone charger there and it was mailed back to us by the housekeeping staff no problems! There were quite a few activities for kids that kept everyone entertained.

The lodge is very nice for being at a state park. A little dated, but we weren't expecting the Ritz. Staff were friendly and the food in the restaurant was good. Rooms were a nice size and clean. Plenty of activities. Lake is great! Rented a 19 person boat and everyone had a blast out on the water!

The only problems we had were at check in and check out. We had a group of five families and one family made all the reservations. We had to pay a deposit for the five rooms for the first night, which is fine, but they did not credit all the rooms equally when we checked in. They seemed to have a problem being able to charge five different people just because one person made the reservation. (Never had that issue at any other hotel before). So that made check out a little difficult because some people received the deposit credit and some didn't. It got worked out in the end, but a little frustrating. But other than that - good stay and would stay there again.

very nice place, clean, friendly staff, beautiful lake and scenery, lots to do, good food. The lodge rooms are nice and I checked out the cabins also and they were fantastic. The food is a bit pricey at the restaurant but there are other options. The breakfast buffet is nice and the lounge area is nice. Opt for a room with a view, it is worth it.

Room Tip: opt for a room with a view, it's worth it

The lodge is lovely, I was very impressed with that, but the lake part that is open to the public to swim, was less than pleasant! They do not have bathrooms, they have portable bathrooms. The building there looks really bad, but other than that he the beach was nice, and I love that they have a pet swimming area!

I stayed at Deer Creek Lodge on Friday 7/11/2014 as part of a meeting. I had stayed here the previous year for 2 nights. I was supposed to stay for 2 nights but checked out a day early.
The good:
Lots of activities for families and kids.
Front desk manager tried to make things right by moving me. I think she thought it was making it right by not charging me for the 2nd night. I told her I did not want to stay and left the meeting early.
Restaurant in general has good food. Service I experienced was good not great.
Meeting rooms were nice and wi fi worked well.
Views are great of the lake.
Golf course is nice / clubhouse is nice.

The bad:
A/C unit did not work in my room. It just made noise and leaked all night.
Hotel allowed kids to pay cornhole outside my room till wee hours so ....heard slap/ slap/ slap / slap forever.....
Had bugs in the room (2 spiders and a centipede) that I killed - enough for me.
A/C unit soaked 2 towels completely in my room and kept me up all night. Manager said they had this problem in a few rooms. Check on this before you accept room.

Room Tip: Ask to ensure that the a/c unit in your room is not having problems. If you get pool front ensure y...

I’m happy you were able to see all the great things Deer Creek has to offer. We have recently added kayaks for our guest to use and that has been a big hit as well. There have been a few issues with a couple of our air conditioners this summer but we are actively pursuing these issues and fixing them. Thank you for your input.

We did not stay at the lodge but did not see a place to rate the campground. We stayed at the campground and like it very much. Lots of paved road to ride or walk on. Bathrooms clean etc.We would go back again. We did visit the lodge and it looks like a nice place to eat, shop etc.
