We were looking to for an inexpensive hotel near a yoga studio in Niles, OH. The reviews about this place convinced us to take the leap. Am I glad we did!!
The hotel was probably built in the late 60s or early 70s and is not architecturally beautiful, but its exterior appearance is well kept. The room was updated with a flat panel TV and bathroom fixtures (I think the vanity was granite or it was a very nice faux granite!). Some carpet in the hallways and some furniture looked dated, but everything was clean and presentable.
I requested a non-smoking room that was smoke-free. The room was adjacent to smoking rooms, so the hallway had the constant smell of smoke. Thankfully, the room was unaffected.
Originally, I found the hotel on Hotels.com, and they advertised a price of $70/night which I thought was quite good. However, I Googled the hotel's phone number to contact them directly. The front desk quoted a price for a queen room for 2 adults for $54 + tax and with a AAA discount!!! I was very pleased with this since we were only needing the room to sleep and shower.
The only complaint was that the bed was not very comfortable; however, we were able to adjust the heat on this cold night (9 degrees!) and stay comfortable in the room. Staff was friendly. Also, the little breakfast they do is nice - there were bagels, fresh fruit, and decent coffee.
There is a pool, so I hope to enjoy it in warmer weather when I visit the yoga studio again.
