If you love planes then you need to go see the MAPS Air Museum. It was so terrific to be able to see the planes up close. I was able to sit in the cockpit of F-100 Sabre. The planes are being restored at the museum and it was cool to see them working on some of the planes.

The MAPS Air museum is located behind the Akron-Canton Airport and shouldn't be missed. The volunteers there know what is going on and can explain everything to you.

The displays are quite interesting. All restoration is done by volunteers. There are opportunities [and steps] to go right up to, and peek in, many of the planes. You can even go into the blimp gondola.

Spend some time in the Hall of Heroes. It is a very moving tribute to local people who have served and some who have given the ultimate sacrifice.

I look forward to going back.

The guides are all so knowledgable and excited to share what they know. I learned so much the day we visited. They really enlarged their collection since I was last there.

Wanted something to do in the area with college age kids. I figured our visit would last less then an hour but we spent over an hour and a half looking at the exhibits and planes. We've been to Wright and the D.C. air museums but this is one of those little museums that are a real labor of love. Very interesting displays in the hero section.

The North Canton MAPS (Military Air Preservation Society) Museum is a must for anyone interested in the history of military aviation. The museum includes lots of militaryily important aircraft and a Hall of Heroes that contains numerous aviation-related items.
