“This was just the home-like place we were looking for and so FRIENDLY. :-)”
Reviewed 19 December 2015 for a stay in December 2015

Steve and Amy treated us like old friends catching up. We enjoyed watching them milk the cows, the girls got to collect the eggs, and they shared butter and eggs with us, just because they love to share! There were plenty of beds for the five of us, and two full baths meant quicker shower time for the family. Regular-sized fridge, microwave, stove, seating for six, and utensils! One thing I wish I had was a microwave-safe dish, such as a casserole dish, to heat the venison stew we brought. But we divided between the stoneware bowls and heated it that way. There was even a table-top ironing board and an iron. Plenty of towels...Shall I go on? There was room to turn our 15-passenger van around, lots of trees on all sides that must make it cool and shady in the summer, and a porch swing. :-) We look forward to returning.

“What A Disappointment!”

We are two grandmas who travel several times a year so are somewhat savvy about what we are looking for in a rental. After reading many, many reviews of cabins in the Adams County area we finally settled on this one because of the interesting, positive and inviting things others said about it. Others raved about touring the farm, feeding the animals, milking the cows, fishing in the pond, learning about organic farming and similar wonderful adventures all of which really appealed to us. In August we settled on the dates and remitted our rent for two nights. I requested travel directions and general rental information but none was sent. We had no further communication with the owners until two days before we were to arrive when I called to ask when check in was. Still no directions. We did download directions from the internet; however, they were to a very different location and we ended up 10 miles beyond where we were supposed to be. We finally called the owners and they verbally directed us to the cabin. By now we were about one-half hour past the two o'clock check in time. The owners met us at the cabin, unlocked the door, gave us a one minute "tour" of the house, pointed a finger toward the pond and left. We did not speak with them again. We were really looking forward to seeing the farm and hearing about organic farming and the way they raise their animals and all of those other wonderful things everyone else had written about but, we saw and did none of that. We spent a lot of time looking for the pond. It was NOT to be found. The day we left we determined it must have been across the road altho we did not see it. We thought they may, at the very least, have offered a quick tour of the farm but that did not happen. On our way home we discussed the trip and wondered if possibly we had stayed at the wrong place since none of the reviews seemed to match what we experienced or did not! And as the icing on the cake, after a month of sunshine, it rained the entire time we were there. Of course, that was not their fault, but it did seem somewhat ironic. The cabin itself was nice and comfortable with everything we needed except food. Sure would have loved some of those fresh farm eggs, tho!
