Really enjoyed the private and protected balcony...sat our on our balcony during a big storm and just enjoyed watching the storm. Bathroom (around toilet area) could have been cleaner, but room was spacious and clean. Bed very comfortable. Outdoor pool was big and clean. You could even get food service around the pool. Food in the restaurant was excellent...we were not expecting that. Location is beautiful and there is so much to do nearby.

Room Tip: We were in building B...faced the woods/parking lot. Probably building A would be the least desirab...

Although the Mohican area was beautiful, we stayed at the lodge for some getaway time and was a little disappointed in the room we stayed in. I expected to get a view looking out to the woods and beautiful scenery knowing that we would have a patio. We got a room looking over the outdoor pool instead. We decided not to use the patio as the pool was too noisy.

The rooms seem to be updated to a point but not as updated as I expected. They were not enough outlets for charging three cell phones. And some outlets were tied into a switch that turned the lights on and off. We tried leaving the switch on while turning off the lamps. However, some of the lights didn't turn off with a switch. I am fully aware that this was a getaway and knew better not to answer the phone but it's impossible to avoid not checking our phones with teenagers at home alone.

The other reviews discusses the small beds. They are not kidding. Our beds were full-size not queen size which I thought we were getting. They were not comfortable if sharing with someone else.

We were not impressed with the bar. We sat down at a table and waited for someone to serve us for a late dinner since the dining room was closed. We waited 10-15 minutes before we gave up, got up and left. We ended up back in town to find something to eat.

I think the next time we visit the Mohican area we will rent a cabin or borrow someone's camper. For the price we paid for the weekend, it was not worth it. We were disappointed.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with queen or king size beds. Ask for a room that does not overlook the pool area.

This lodge was built in the '70's and the architecture screams it...however, the operators have done a pretty good job of keeping it from seeming tired. The rooms are well appointed and roomy, the double rooms have a vanity with a sink just outside the bathroom that also has a sink...a BIG plus in my book. Lots of squishy pillows and nice fluffy comforter.

It was really convenient having a bar and full service restaurant on the premises since it is a bit of a drive to town. We used both and the food was pretty good. The bar served a local beer on tap (Great Lakes) in addition to Deschutes that is brewed in Bend, OR. I'm sure they also had the everyday stuff as well. They don't mind you eating and/or having a cold one on the adjacent patio. Be sure to do that one evening as the sunset over the lake is just beautiful!

Here is the best hint you will get from anyone...be careful what outlet you plug your phone/iPad/laptop into to charge because we learned the hard way that at least two outlets are "switched" outlets, meaning that when you flip the switch that operates the lamps...the other receptacle in the outlet that the lamps are plugged into is also shut off...SO YOUR DEVICE WILL NOT CHARGE. My suggestion to the management would be to provide a powerstrip on the desk and label it "charging station" so that unsuspecting guests don't check out and hit the road not realizing their phone didn't fully charge. Ask me how I know this ;)

The one down side was that in out room, when the guests behind us or above us (I'm not sure which) flushed their toilet it seemed louder than our own! It was a very startling noise. Maybe it was this particular room because we stayed before and did not have the same experience.

The staff was great. We ran out of coffee and I called the desk asking how to get more. They said they would send some to our room...I barely had time to get a robe on before there was a knock at the door!! I've stayed at much more expensive hotels that had less attentive service than the Mohican Lodge.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay a great deal.

We were there recently for a retirement party with friends. First they gave our table away, then we waited an extra 40 minutes to be seated. The table we were given wasn't large enough to accommodate our whole party and they had to bring more tables while our party stood and waited. No bread on the table, no drinks came after we ordered. Most of our party ordered the filet, which was the special. Fifteen minutes after we ordered they came back to tell us the filet was sold out and we all had to re-order. We had to ask for our salads to be served and when they were finally brought, they also brought the meals for the people who hadn't had to re-order. Then we waited more and finally got our meals. I ordered the Tuscan chicken which was just boiled chicken with 2 capers and some warm tomatoes on top. The steamed veggies were cold and the rice had no flavor. My husband had the strip steak which was touted as being from Malabar Farm, but there is no way it could have been because it was fatty and had lots of gristle. We have eaten at Malabar Farm enough times to know how good their meat is and this wasn't it. And for all of that we still had to pay the full price which was too high for what we received. If you want a good meal, go to Malabar Farm Restaurant. THAT meal will be worth your money.

really enjoyed the recent weekend. went for mothers day with wife and kids. rooms were modern, clean with flat screen tv's. facility somewhat dated, but were working on grounds as we were there. great pool, nice restaurant, great hikes and gift shop. enjoyed going to the grist mill nearby. kids loved the shuffleboard. absolutely beautiful sunset over the lake during dinner. not the ritz carlton....but we werent expecting that. xanterra does a really nice job with this lodge. would not hesitate to go back.

Nice lodge in the State Park. The room was nice and comfortable.
The grounds and surrounding area were very nice. there are some nice hiking trails in the area.
although some of the trails are listed as "moderate difficulty" they were very easy.
We were hoping that the Lodge had access to the lake but it did not.
Overall very nice.
