“Wonderful country pub in a picturesque location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 May 2014

We have visited this pub a lot, as its on the route of Sussex a country walk that we love around Kingley Vale. We have always had really nice meals there, so thought we'd give them the review they deserve. Firstly the pub itself is nice and clean, and this includes the toilets. The staff are friendly, polite and attentive. If you like real ale then you'll find some great beers are available. They also serve some very nice wines. Today we had the beer battered fresh cod with chips and peas. I have to say the meal was perfectly cooked and the presentation was excellent. Great quality food at reasonable prices! Thanks!

“Good food and great location let down by the service!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 May 2014

Went for Sunday lunch with friends and had a nice meal it was more the service that wasn't up to much! There always seemed to be a queue at the bar despite it not being that busy, which wasn’t really a surprise considering the bar area was very small; the food service however I found to be a very lapse. When our food came out, we didn't have enough knives and forks so we asked the girl serving us for some, to which she replied there in a basket next to the bar! Very lazy I felt and got the impression she wasn't enjoying her work and didn’t really want to be there!
Overall impression of the place was that the food was good and it was clean and tidy and had a nice feel about it, there’s plenty of seating outside at the front of the pub where you can sit in the sun and enjoy a pint, they just need to improve there service.
I did notice that the pub garden at the rear of the building was closed for some reason though.

“Nice Country Pub”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 May 2014 via mobile

We called in here after a lovely walk around the area which gave some excellent views from the ridge. There was a very good choice of real ales & ciders. We ate as we'll and although all the food we had was very nice (all main courses), anyone with a big appetite would be disappointed, particularly with the ratatouille which was a very small portion and not cheap either.

“Amazing Food, Amazing Pub, Amazing Everything!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 April 2014

My family and I went for a mid week lunch while visiting my parents and was totally amazed at how good the food and service was. We enjoy good quality food has living in the Middle East its what I have become used to. I had the Steak which was abslolutely out of this world. Our 3 year old son was with us too and he too really enjoyed the food. This really is a great pub and in all honesty much more than just a pub. Great service from very polite and friendly staff. Cant wait for our next trip back to the UK so we can come for another great lunch!!!
