I was worried about choosing the Bayshore after reading reviews. We loved the resort. All rooms have a lake front view. Our room was a standard room and it was large. The bathroom was huge, with a glassed in shower. We had a great patio. All balonies were screened in and everyroom overlooks the lake, pool and tiki bar and resteraunt. We rented a golf cart at the hotel. The staff was great, giving us recommendations for the area. WE were about a 4 minute drive from Miller ferry. You could walk to the area shops in 3 minutes. The only down side was , we wanted to stay a 2nd. night and they were booked up. We will stay here again when we come back to Put-In-Bay, This is a great hotel . I am so glad we didn't stay uptown. Those hotels were filled with what looked like high school kids hanging everywhere. We ate dinner here also and it was great. We were given recommendations for the dining here from others around the island.

We stayed on second floor in a suite due to my daughter being handicapped. The room was spacious, so we had plenty of room for her medical supplies and wheelchair. The room was spotless. The only thing that I didn't like was the view of the balcony was the restuarant. But that's just where the room was situated. I plan on coming back this summer or fall. But will get a 1rst floor. In case the lights go out again, hard to get a wheelchair down stairs. This is a beautiful place to stay. The people were friendly! I felt safe and secure there.

This was our third year in a row to stay at the Bayshore Resort. We have always had a great time and have never had any problems. We have always gone during the week and always request a room on the first floor sice it it easier to get to the pool and tiki bar. The rooms on the second and third floor all have screened in balconies which would be a real plus during the may flies season. I have never been questioned at check in and have always been treated very nicley during all of my visits.
It is a short walk to downtown, jet skiis can be rented next door and golf carts rented at the front desk. The view of Lake Erie can not be beat.
We will be back again next year.

BayShore looked nice but the staff was horrible. I guess they didn't have enough work to do so they spied on guests and called police or security for every infraction. They said they had a secure area for luggage, they did not, we took our bags back to our car and did some sight seeing. We stoped at the winery bought some wine returned to room when we carried our luggage in we put wine in one of our bags for easier carrying went to our room. Then we left for dinner on our return to the room we opened up wine about 30 minutes security was peering in sliding glass doors and banging on room door!We were told no other alcohol but what was sold at hotel!!How did they know we had wine it was in our luggage??They used main pass key while we were gone.We metioned that we wanted to talk to manager about the violation of our privacy that never happened. We were also told we had to leave for smoking on outside patio THEY PROVIDE ASHTRAYS but you are not allowd to use them they called security again and caused a scene. We are a middle aged couple only looking for a quiet time. When we left the hotel we noticed staff eavesdropping on another room and calling security for some other infraction of hotel rules. HORRIBLE NO PRIVACY HARD BEDS I SPY STAFF BIG BROTHER MUST OWN HOTEL!!! STAY AWAY!!!!

My husband and I just returned from a weekend stay at the BayShore. We were a little concerned about reviews but decided to go for it.

We took Miller's Ferry over and hopped on the bus for 2.50 each and were dropped off in front of the hotel.

We arrived at 1:00 and our room was not ready. We put our bags in the storage area and rented a golf cart for a quick tour of the island..

We did not get questioned by secuity as many others have said. Yes, there were guards around the hotel but they were there to ensure that only registered guests entered the building.

Our room was on the third floor with a wonderful view of the lake. The room was basic but clean.

We ordered drinks from the Tiki Bar at 4.50 each and had breakfast one morning at the resturant- food was okay. Better food can be found in downtown Put in Bay, which is less than a five mintue walk from the hotel.

Postives; Location- it is directly on the lake with great views. Friendly staff and hotel was very clean. Close to action but far enough away from noise and traffic. Golf cart rental on site.

Cons: The mattress was hard and the pillows soft. The cost of a nights stay was steep for a basic room. But we visited during high season and the view was worth it!

All in all it was a good stay and we will return again.

We stayed two nights (Sunday and Monday for the cheaper rate - 2 queen beds) and had a great time but come on guys.....those mattresses have to be the cheapest things available. Aside from the very uncomfortable mattress we did enjoy our stay. We used the pool, restaurant and the Tiki bar, and rented a golf cart.. All was good but we can't help but warn anyone else about the mattresses. We took another reviewer's advice and put the blanket underneath us and it did help somewhat. When you put your hand on the mattress and push you can feel all the metal springs. It just does not make for a very good nights sleep. That said, we did enjoy ourselves at the hotel. The bathroom was very roomy and the glassed in shower was nice but nowhere to prop your leg to shave...common problem in showers.

Only other side notes - pool towels were out on our first afternoon. Word from the front desk was "they're in the dryer". We were outside until probably 5pm at least but the towels were never replenished. I recommend bringing your own to be sure you have one. The wireless connection did not work in our rooom so don't count on it. I'm sure it works in the lobby though.

Just bring some Advil for the next morning. Your body may be kind of stiff and it might help you feel better.

Stayed there about a week ago (July 2009). We were there with extended family. Staff was RUDE. Jackie at front desk couldn't tell me when a manager would be on duty when we had an issue with one of the golf carts we were renting. I asked her to check the schedule and she said there wasn't one-BS. This poor attitude seem to spread to many employees on the island. It was ashame because otherwise we like the hotel and the island but doubt we will be back. For the money we spent we could have tgone to many other places. We are currently in Gulf Shores, Al and much friendly staff down here who actually realize you are spending your hard-earned money at their resort.
