“The Hawaiian”
Reviewed 4 June 2013

We stayed for two nights on a weekend at the end of May. The cabin was clean, comfortable, beautiful and made us feel at home. The cabin is very well taken care of on the inside. The couch seemed like it was brand new. Flat Screen tv with cable and HBO in the living room. For being in the woods we were surprised to find absolutely no bugs inside which was great. The inside was nicely decorated, the bed was comfortable, shower pressure was great. Full kitchen which was nice. The hot tub was very relaxing and clean. The cabin is secluded with a private drive. Very peaceful and quiet outside. We also went to the Cantwell Cliffs and The Rockhouse for a couple of days which were close by. Cons: On the outside of the cabin were about 8 wasp nests. There was a small amount of wasp spray we found under the sink and we sprayed some of the wasps. Everytime we opened the front door to go outside to grill one was flying past. We didnt use the upper deck because of the nests and wasps flying around. My boyfriend called the owner and asked for some more wasp spray. He said the nests had already been sprayed and suggested they were small. Some of the nest we saw were the size of walnuts though and there were active wasps. We called twice asking for more wasp spray but were given none. He suggested that they would not sting us and it was part of living in the woods. We would have sprayed the wasps ourselves but the owner didn't seem to want to bring any more spray over. Had he brought us a can of wasp spray this would have received an excellent rating. We also mentioned to him that the chairs around the fire pit were broken. Once you sat in them it was obvious the backs of the chairs are busted. Also, some of the rugs in the cabin could use some updating because they were rather worn.

This past weekend my husband and I visited the Hocking Hills region and stayed with Buckeye Cabins at The Dogwood. I have very high expectations when I stay anywhere and the Dogwood far exceeded each and every one of them. To start, the location was PERFECT..completely private and close to all the local sites. Within minutes we were at Old Man's Cave, Conckle's Hollow, Cedar Falls, etc... The cabin itself was BEAUTIFUL and accomodated each of our needs. We really never needed to leave the cabin!! There was a king size bed (nice clean linen and mattress cover..YES, I checked the mattress!), seating area with couch recliners, full kitchen, dinette, bath with shower and a vanity by bed, satellite TV/ radio, a downstairs with billiard/ cards, etc.., front porch and back porch both with nice furniture/gliders/rockers, and a CLEAN hot tub! This was the perfect getaway for us..a couple, married 15 years with demading jobs and three young sons. We will be back..checking available dates NOW!

We stayed in the Hawaii cabin. A nicely appointed place with all the trappings for a getaway. Doug met us and guided us to the cabin. A great guy who explained everything and quickly left us alone to unwind. This is a 1 bedroom cabin with a pool table in the basement. The kitchen has everything you need in case you want to cook. At night you could look up in the sky and actually see the stars. The great part was that your not that far from civilization,if you needed to pick something up that you forgot. Also, the peace and quiet was great. This has become our go to place. You will not be disappointed.

We recently stayed in the Hawaaiin Cabin which was secluded and quiet. This is a couples only cabin, was nicely decorated and pretty clean when we arrived. Doug was very pleasant and quickly explained a few things, told us to read the rules and quickly left us alone. We definately would stay at this cabin again.

We stayed at the Buckeye Cabin. Accurate directions, enough parking for 3 vehicles. The main floor of the cabin has 1 bedroom with ?kingsize bed, kitchen/living room/dining room combined. Roomy, attractive. Upper loft with 2 full beds. Lower level with 1 BR with 1 set of bunks, 1 BR with full size bed, another BR with full sized bed. we had 5 adults, 4 children. The cabin was big enough for all to be comfortable. Fully stocked kitchen & new appliances.
Nice area for fire-pit. Nice hot tub & deck furniture. The Cabin has 2 covered decks & covered front porch. 10-15 minutes to Wal-Mart, & all attractions in the Hocking Hills State Park. The Cabin was over-all nice, with a few exceptions. The towels & sheets look worn, old, stained, just need to be replaced. We did a "bed-bug" inspection, did not find any evidence, so that was good. Guest that slept in the lower level said it had a musty smell, but spray room deodorizer helped. Lower rooms needed dusting. Wood around shower on lower level rotting. Even with these less than perfect minor imperfections, I would stay at Buckeye Cabins again. Loved HH State Park, don't miss it.

We stayed for a week with another family. Four adults and four kids (ages 8 mo, 18 mo, 2 & 7). The cabin was very spacious and comfotable for all 8 of us. Three floors, so we could have privacy too. It had plenty of beds for all of us. There was everything we needed in the kitchen. The two full baths were convenient. But they are both shower, no tub for little ones. Not that big of a deal. Hot tub was big enough for all four adults. It rained quite a bit, but the decks/porches are covered and have railings so we were still able to be "outside"'with the kids a lot. We were within a close drive to all of the sites. The property itself is really nice too. With a covered walk bridge over a creek. The owner was super accommodating and nice. Great vacation!

We and our four young children stayed for four days in The Buckeye Cabin. We had a small snafu in our registration, which was our fault, and Doug worked wonderfully to accommodate us. It was hard to get the kids to leave the cabin. Everything was clean and neat. A few more pots, pans and cooking utensils would be a nice addition. And a lockable bathroom door might not be a bad idea. At the end of each day of hiking, it felt like we were coming home. We travel to Hocking Hills at least once each year and have never stayed in the same place twice. I think that will change after staying with Buckeye Cabins.
