“Rockbridge fall colors are fading”
Reviewed 7 November 2013

This is a lovely little hike from At Boulder's Edge cabins. The fall colors were amazing. Make sure you do the loop on the way back by turning right on the little wooden bridge. We missed this turn and walked back the same path to and from the natural rock bridge.

“Whose backyard is this?”
Reviewed 28 September 2013

Once we got past the idea that it felt like we were walking in someone's backyard for a while, we had a nice hike to the largest natural rock bridge in the state - at almost 100 feet long and between 10-20 feet wide. Make sure to memorize the map at the entrance to the park - there is only one sign for the bridge once you are on the trail, and you have to make a few turns on the trail before you even see it.

Once we found the rock bridge, we walked across it and looked down. There were a couple of small waterfalls - probably would have been amazing if there was more rain recently. After walking around and taking some pictures, my sister noticed that someone was down below the bridge. We quickly found out that there was another part to the trail, just past the bridge, that you can use to walk below.

Overall, it was a fun trip - maybe 1 mile in total. You do have to walk uphill at some points along the trail, and there are no safety guards in place on the bridge, so keep all that in mind when planning.

“It was a nice family hike”
Reviewed 27 September 2013

Rockbridge Nature Preserve was one of the things we wanted to do while we were in the area. It's the biggest rock bridge in Ohio. Getting there was an adventure. Once you get off the highway, the road narrows to one car for about a mile. Not fun going up a hill! There's a small parking area on the left side of the road. The hike is nice. The flyer said 2.75 miles, but it didn't feel like it. There are some hills in the woods, but not bad. First you start out hiking along a field. Once you get into the woods, the trail loops. We went right. The mosquitoes are very bad in the woods. Bring spray! Once we started looping around you can hear a lot of screaming & a weird whirring noise. Zip line. Very annoying when you just want a quiet hike.
The bridge itself is nice, but understated. You can walk across it, but the trail doesn't go over it. It was hard for me to get a good picture. You take the loop back out of the woods & walk back to you car. Nice family hike!
