“Most beautiful location and fantastic food.”
Reviewed 5 January 2011

We had a weekend away with no children and could not have chosen a more perfect location. The Inn is located right on the gorge with beautiful hiking trails steps from our room. The food was to die for, with their breakfast (which was included with the room) you didn't need lunch and the dinner was a 5* dining experience with wonderful ombiance (we were piped into dinner and then the owner welcomed everyone and quoted Robbie Burns to set the very romantic mood). They are in a dry community in Hocking Hills so they can't sell alcohol, but they tell you this up front and suggest you bring your own wine/beer. The really nice thing about this is the savings in cost from having to purchase restaurant alcohol. They also serve you the alcohol so it doesn't alter the mood. We will definitly return.

Glenlaurel is an experience like no other. From the time that we registred it was as if we stepped back into a quiet non-hectic world. Guest are treated like a favorite relative. Dinners are prepared fresh, nothing out of a box etc. here, top notch chef with a wait staff I wanted to bring home.

Our croft was just perfect, with a living room, eating area, bedroom and nice size bathroom. They have celtic cd's that just add that perfect atmosphere.

On the back of the croft is a screened in porch that is perched above part of the gorge, on the other side of the porch in a 2 person hot tub. They allow you to use their cozy robes to wrap in.

I felt like I was in Brigadoon. On Saturday night Michael the Inn Keeper dressed in full scottish fare. He had a wonderful harpist playing during 1/2 hour prior to dinner and then through most of the meal.

There was not one thing that we had a problem with.

We were celebrating our 30th anniv. and we will now make this an annual destination

Our first stay at the Glenlaurel inn exceeded our expectations! We felt like VIP from the moment we arrived to our departure. We chose to stay in the Elliot croft. The crofts were quite large and very clean. Soft robes and treats were awaiting arrival. We had our very own very private two person hot tub on our balcony overlooking the trees.
During our stay we booked a couples massage in the Joppa spa that is on the Glenlaurel property. The staff was fabulous and the massages were great!
We took advantage of the six course dinner that was served in the manor house. The food was amazing! The dinner is a set menu but can be altered to dietary restrictions.
We had complementary breakfast the following morning on the deck of the manor house. Slowcooked oatmeal, blueberry pancakes and scones were served.
The Glenlaurel inn also has a private hiking grounds. The views were beautiful.
We can't wait to return for another escape.

We just celebrated our 1st year Wedding Anniversary and could not have asked for a more romantic and perfect experience. Glenlaurel is hidden which adds to its charm taking you away from the business of the day. From the music playing when we walked into our croft...the Bruce...to the personal robes and small gift the little touches were what made this trip so wonderful. The staff goes out of their way to make you comfortable even letting us use their refrigerator for our chocolates before we checked in while at Old Man's Cave. The food was an experience to be remembered with a candle dinner and then a hearty breakfast complete with porridge and scones. Our favorite experience was the personal hot tub that was private and romantic under the stars nestled in the trees. This has truly become a new tradition and we can't wait to go back.

My husband and I visited Glenlaurel several years ago in the winter and really enjoyed our visit including hiking around frozen waterfalls at Hocking Hills and the Glenlaurel property. We visited again in September 2009. Again the food for dinner and breakfast was great and the natural surroundings lovely. However, our croft - Drummond - while very clean seemed somewhat worn. I particularly did not think that the bed was as comfortable as I would expect considering the price. I also didn't think the kitchenette (which we did not use) or the bathroom were as nicely finished as one might expect. Overall, however, we had an enjoyable get-away and I would also recommend the zip-line tour nearby.
