“Wonderful Time”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 August 2013

This was the first time we visited Cedar Point in 25 years. We had a very enjoyable stay at Sandcastle Suites. The staff was very friendly and the minor problem we had with a light was fixed within 2 hours. The kids loved the pool and hot tub. The lifeguards are very attentive to everyone in the pool. Impressed they provide life jackets for children under 48" tall. Housekeeping staff did an excellent job keeping the suite clean and properly supplied with amenities. Enjoyed the screened in balcony as I could sit on balcony and watch my children in the pool. I would recommend the Sandcastle for anyone staying on the grounds at Cedar Point. Looking forward to returning again for a vacation

After booking at Sandcastle Suites, we were pleased to be invited via email to Castaway Bay Waterpark for a day of fun for $10.00 per person. We did this on our arrival day. Waterpark was clean and everyone had a great time. Our suite for 6 was smaller than I had remembered from past years, but was very clean. Microwave and refrigerator are an added plus. Park tickets are $11 cheaper and guests are allowed inside the park 1 hour prior to non staying ticket holders. Kids are already planning next years trip with Fast Pass Tickets.

Cedar Point was great. Our party of 6 was somewhat cramped but surprisingly comfortable in the 2-room suite. The screened in patio was enjoyable. The staff at the front desk was so helpful and friendly. The rooms was clean beds were comfortable. The several restaurants on the property were so convenient. We can't wait to go back next year.

Room Tip: If you want to enjoy the beach, you'll need to walk 5/10 minutes to the Breakers Hotel. If you p...

After traveling for 6 hours we were pleased to get to our lake view room. The kids loved it. We are a family of 6 and our room suited us fine. As for the beds, I haven't found a hotel bed that is fantastic as of yet. The pool and hot tub were great. The bathrooms are really small. They do have a shuttle bus to take guests to Cedar Point, but we walked the distance. If you need diapers or pull ups or other necessities, please get them before you stay. The gift shops at Cedar Point, Sandcastle Suites and the Hotel near these two places do not stock personal items. Be more prepared than I. To better accomodate guests I would like to see gift shops that feature personal items, it would be helpful to busy moms like me.

It was a great suite layout on the lake with a screened in porch and a large picture window
in the bedroom. It had a microwave and refrigerator. Bathroom and bedrooms have pocket doors for space considerations. Good for 6 people. Has stairs and elevator. Pool and hottub and lake views and is located in walking distance to Cedar Point. Nice, clean beachfront and NO fishy smell.

You only have to pay a parking fee once and then you get a parking permit to keep in your car.
There is a shuttle you can take to the front of the park or to the water park. You can walk along the lakefront on the walkway that goes past the Breakers Hotel and a couple restaurants.

The only drawback was there was a buffet restaurant that was a bit pricey and was only open for breakfast and lunch. We bought some cereal and breakfast bars at the gift store and saved money there. We got lunch in the park or elsewhere. You can also get a Fast Pass; they cost $75 and you can avoid long lines. It's $95 if you want all rides on a Fast Pass.

You will have a nice time. We stayed for 4 days. We also went to the Sandusky Mall and we took the ferry over to Put-in-bay island for several hours. We were visiting from NY.

Room Tip: There are 2 layouts to choose from. The lake view rooms are great to have if you can swing it. Our...

I really want to like this place. Nice hotel, good location, clean, friendly - it has most of the bases covered. But I go to a hotel mainly to sleep, and the beds were horrible. My wife and I had to sleep separately because we kept rolling to the middle. Beside the valley in the middle, the mattress was just uncomfortable. For 300 bucks a night I expect a good mattress and a decent night's sleep. Not at the Sandcastle.

We arrived around 10 at night when the park was closing after a very long day on the road. It took us around 20 minutes to find the hotel once we entered the parking area. The signs were very poor and we were misdirected on 3 different occasions. The guy that finally pointed us in the right direction was very rude. I was very frustrated and tired by the time I reached the check in desk but the ladies working the desk were so polite and helpful it relaxed me. The room was clean and on the 1st floor with a great view of the lake. We needed extra pillows and they promptly brought them to us. One thing we noticed was a very strong paint smell when you first entered the hallway and we were by the utility closet. Housekeeping came in the afternoon both days we were there and taking a break from the park. They politely asked if we needed anything, quickly took care of it and left the room. The hot tub was low on water causing the jets to spit and could have used some attention but that might have been caused by all the little kids jumping around in it. Overall it was a nice stay.
