“Location is it's Greatest Asset”
Reviewed 15 June 2014

We stayed at Sandcastle Suites the weekend of the water main break, sleeping there Friday and having to evacuate on Saturday. The front desk staff was courteous upon checkin, and I appreciated the map she gave me so I could find the elevator. It is not located in the lobby, but outside in a stairwell. The clouds of muffleheads were disgusting, but I am not sure why they pick on the park so bad. There were only a few in Huron, which is across the lake. The room was rather odd, and has no in-room safe. They are a little shabby for the price, with worn out linens and pillows. The dorm fridge was not even plugged in, so that took a long time to cool off. My friends found a dirty sock by the bed in their room, and our room was mostly cleaned, but not a place I would feel comfortable going shoeless. The bed was not the worst I've slept in, but I think I expected a little more. Obviously, you are paying for the location. We did take the shuttle to the park, but walked back when the park closed because we called 4 times and waited a half hour for a shuttle that never showed up. Maybe a 7-
10 minute walk back. When we had to evacuate, we were refunded our stay, which was appreciated. We then spent a great deal of time finding other accomodations, and wound up at Comfort Inn River's Edge in Huron thanks to tripadvisor. (Very clean, comfortable and reasonably priced in case you are interested.) Would I stay at Sandcastle Suites again? I'm not sure. It wasn't the worst hotel, but it wasn't anything special, either. I feel like Cedar Point knows they've got you, so they don't have to try as hard.

It was great, once I arrived I didn't have to do any of the driving to the park gates, the cedar point shuttle was always available. Early access to the park was a bonus for us to enjoy the day. Big plus for us we could go back to our rooms and rest for a couple of hours and go back to the park later. Lines for the big rides were shorter then.

We go to Cedar Point at least 7 times a year and usually stay at The Breakers Hotel at Cedar Point. We decided to try The Sandcastle. All the rooms are Suites. 2 separate rooms, 2 HD TV's, a microwave and dorm size refrigerator. They also have a private balcony. It's within walking distance to Cedar Point Amusement Park . The pool is very nice and you can sit and look out at Lake Erie. The staff there were so nice and courteous. the rooms were like new and very clean. We really enjoyed the place and will stay there again. So convenient to Cedar Point. You can go back and take a rest and cool off then return back in the park as many times as you would like.

Room Tip: Rooms on the north side have a Lake Erie view. Has elevators. You won't be disappointed

Stayed there with our family. Clean bed and rooms. There is free coffee in the lobby and the front desk staff is friendly and helpful. There is a shuttle that runs from the suites to different areas of the park which is very helpful after a long day at park.

Myself and five friends stayed in a suite for one night in early June. When I reserved a suite, I was expecting a much bigger room. What I got was a room the could comfortably sleep four, that six people were jammed into. The beds were uncomfortable, the bathroom had a strange layout and the door could barley close because of the toilet being in the way of the door. The refrigerator did not keep our food and drinks cold at all. Also the air conditioner did not work very well, it was placed in the main area with a vent in the corner of the bedroom to allow for air to come in, which didn't really allow for it to cool down at all. The pool and beach area were also very gross. The pool and hottub were filled with bugs and the hottub was warm at best. We went for a short walk on the beach but had to turn around because it smelled so bad- there were dead fish and seagulls all along the water. I also don't know if it's just the time of the year or what, but the bugs were HORRIBLE. They were splattered all over the outside of the building and on walls in the indoor/outdoor hallways- Eww. I would advise anyone who is looking to stay here to check out a hotel outside of the park.

I have no complaints about cedar point. Everyone was friendly, nice, and professional. The beds were uncomfortable but that's a given when staying somewhere that isn't your bed. The rides were fun. The park was clean. The hotel was clean. I would definitely go back.

Sandcastle Suites are a blast from the past--the 90's. I'd say the accommodations are akin to a Days Inn, which is a bit pricey for the quality. And, the sofa bed was brutal. But being on property was great. They were clean and staff great. The pool was a nice break from 12 hours of roller coasters. There weren't any bars open close to the pool, so it was good that we brought our own supplies. We would stay here again.

Room Tip: Nice to have a lakefront room.
