It was clean, it worked for our family of four, staff was nice, but most importantly, it included early admission. Getting onto at least two stress free, line free rides matters to my family of coaster enthusiasts, but it you are not trying to get on Gatekeeper, Maverick, Raptor or Millennium early, I would stay off property. The pros, the pool was nice, the view was nice, yes May flies hit Ohio, usually in May by the way, but we had a bad year. The room had a frig, microwave, 2 queens beds and a sofa bed, it worked. The cons, the walking distance is about six blocks to a ride, which really adds to the fatigue of the day. The shuttle is slow. If you stay here, go park a little closer to the resort entrance, or we would go to Famous Daves for a drink or lunch and park at the marina entrance. The breakwater cafe I review in another location but service was terrible, incompetent. The snack bar by the pool never opened and we were there July 1 and 2nd. The sofa bed was so uncomfortable, we pulled the mattress onto the floor and that actually worked. The air conditioner is off and on all night, but it did keep the room cool. I did not feel the place was beat up and housekeeping was good, but I would try the on site new cabins next time, at least a block closer to the entrance, they can use the pool, new and you wont hear the room above you pounding out to the park, not because they were loud, just because you will. All of this being said, we stayed at the Breakers and had a similar experience. The furniture was old, the rooms mediocre and the pools so bloody crowded all day and worse, all night that it was just sad. It was closer to the park, but that's all I can say for the Breakers vs. Sandcastle, so if you were down to one of those, I would stay at Sandcastle which is less expensive and not as hectic, but be prepared to walk!

Room Tip: Top floor will avoid the noise above you which you will hear. The screened porch is really uncomfor...

This hotel has one very important thing going for it and that is the location to Cedar Point Park. Otherwise it is less than average. The front staff is very nice but the rooms are in serious need of an update. The beds, sofa beds and furnishings are worn out!! Cheap hotel with a big price tag because of its location. I would think with all the money they make they could really make it nicer but I guess they don't have to, there isn't much competition.

I really enjoyed our stay. The room was clean, beds were comfortable and the view was great. The service was great. Very helpful with getting extra towels and pillows. Would definitely stay here again.

My family has been making an annual trip to Cedar Point for as long as I can remember, and every trip is always amazing. Since 2011, we have stayed at Sandcastle Suites, and every year we get the best service!

Initially when we arrived a room wasn't ready and the check-in clerk took down contact info to let us know when it was ready, so we walked around outside for a few minutes (since we couldn't get into the park yet, since Early Entry wasn't for about an hour). Stepped back inside to use the restroom, and she informed us that a room was freshly ready.

Many people complain about the rooms, but Sandcastle Suites' rooms are a good size, especially for a resort so close to an amusement park.

With Sandcastle, you get closeness to the park, a great view of the beach & MagnumXL200, and outstanding service!

Room Tip: The lakeview room is $20 more than the non-lakeview, but honestly, I think it's very well worth...

My family stayed at the Sandcastle Suites for a couple of days when we visited Cedar Point. The hotel is very convenient to Cedar Point, and provides early entry. There is a pool that is of decent size, but is pretty crowded, and the hotel is right off the beach (which isn't great, but hey, this is Ohio).

The suites are of decent size, but the hotel REALLY needs an update. The hallways are dirty, there is a musty smell, and the bathroom appointments are old. The bed mattresses are of poor quality.

In terms of appointments, I would rate this closer to a cheaper Motel than a higher-price resort hotel.

Overall, an average hotel, but not priced to match its quality. Unfortunately, there aren't too many choices if you want early entry to Cedar Point.

This hotel was exactly what I expected it to be, average. Average just isn't acceptable for the price of over $300/night. Yes the early entry into the park is great, but come on Cedar Fair properties... you can do better. Cedar Point is usually just a one or two day family trip, but it shouldn't cost as much as a 5 day cruise! The room was adequate, queen beds would be preferred, but it was clean and comfortable. The pool was cold, the hot tub was anything but hot, and there were no towels by the pool. The pool area in general was depressing. The bugs on EVERYTHING outside... eew, it was disturbing. I realize you can't control the bugs, but you could at least screen in the lower level walkways so that you don't feel like you're walking through a horror movie at night. Also, please consider a more appropriate time to have your staff shut down and clean the elevators, 8:30 in the morning when guests are checking out and trying to get to the park entrance by 9:00 is not the best time.

On the plus side, the front desk staff were friendly, and the shuttle service was much appreciated. Checking out via the phone was very convenient and saved time. Overall the hotel is adequate and the location can't be beat, but there are a few things they could do to improve future stays.

Took the family back to my roots and looked forward to the trip. Expected an average hotel and that was what I got. Service was good, early entry into park is awesome and location is great.

Don't expect a tidy hotel. Being on the lake, bugs are an issue and the hallways were not kept up to keep these clean. Quality is disney-type... average.

You will want to stay here if you are coming to do the park and just need a decent place to stay. If you are looking for high end, you won't find it here.

Thanks CP for the great memories!! Very short lines, early entry, did every ride multiple times, hit the beach and the waterpark. Definitely a good family time.
