“A worthy competitor to Cedar Point”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 August 2014

Ok, as mentioned in other posts, there are train tracks nearby, but we stayed at the campground for two nights and barely noticed the trains. My mother had a motor home and we stayed in one of the park cabins and could hardly hear them. Admittedly, the air conditioning was going both nights, but it wasn't too bad.

We ended up at KOA because the Cedar Point campground was booked, but we wanted to keep our annual visit to Cedar Point going.

The person who helped us with reservations was great, and booked us a nice cabin next to a spot for my mom's motor home. This was extremely convenient, and not something that we could have done at Cedar Point.

Our cabin was really nice, and seemed to be nearly brand new. There were flat screen TV's in each of the bedrooms and a big one in the dining/living room area. Multiple air conditioners kept things cool, and a nicely sized refrigerator with stove, pots and pans eliminated the need to eat out. I've stayed at the cabins at Cedar point, and these are quite a bit better with more TV's and a better layout.

On the day we headed to the park, I was apprehensive about how long it would take to get there, but it was less than a 10 minute drive.

When we got back, we made a fire and did some marshmallows, ending a fun day with a nice mellow evening.

Probably my only complaint would be the slow Wifi - my kids were less than thrilled with the speed, but I wasn't too concerned, it made them actually come outside....

The Cedar Point campground is certainly close to the park, but it is far from cheap. We are definitely going to consider KOA again next year.

Room Tip: The D1,D2 and D3 cabins seem to be nearly brand new. Request them if possible.

The worst campground I've ever seen. Tiny tent sites, dirty bathrooms, and no enforcement of 11pm quiet time. Spent the entire night listening to the 15 or so drunks having a party behind us. Loud talking, driving golf carts around empty sites & honking horns until 5am. I'm sure the only thing that stopped them was the sudden downpour. Not that we would have slept anyway, the railroad tracks run alongside the campground, and trains run through several times an hour. All. Night. Long. I wouldn't want my worst enemy to stay here. We are packing to leave after one awful night.

Chose this location for price and proximity to cedar point. Those two things are great, but the accommodations are not. The cabin was not the cute wooden park models we've seen at other koa's but a smaller version of a single wide trailer & dirty! The pool also had a dirty ring around the inside. Then the train goes by at ALL hours of the night. Will spend more $ to stay somewhere else next time.

We are here to stay while we went to cedar point. We were not disappointed. I had a site close to the playground so I could watch them play and not worry. They have a jump pillow that was a hit. They would be on that for hours. The play ground was in the same area so they could stay right there and be happy all day. The gem mine was awesome to. They also has a golf cart pulling a train of cars that the kids could ride when they wanted. The campsite was clean and not very big, but it was big enough and worth it for the kids. Their pool was very clean and warm and it had a 6foot side for the more advanced swimmers. The walking trails were beautiful, right by the Bay and there were trees everywhere in the campground and beautiful flower arrangements. They have fun activities for the kids to do all day long which the kids loved. A snack shack which I didn't try because we just drove down the road to the many restaurants in the area. We will be back next year for our cedar point adventure! Very nice place!

Campground was clean and people were nice but the trains ran day and night right next to the campground and blew their horns all the time. Very hard for us to sleep. The bathrooms and facilities were very clean but older and showed considerable signs of wear and tear. Pool was pretty cold but again furniture was worn pretty good. Check in staff was nice and the process was easy. Sites were pretty small but campground wasn't full so it didn't matter for us because we didn't have anyone near us.

We go there 5 to 6 times a year and have a great time. There are tons of sites, plenty with shade. Kids can ride their bikes through the woods and even see Lake Erie. Staff has always been very helpful and nice. It's a quick 6 minute drive to Cedar Point. The only downfall is the loud train that goes by frequently, stay on the north side of the campground and it wont be a problem.

Room Tip: North Side of campground is quieter.

Our family of 3 stayed for 4 nights in a park model unit. The unit was fairly clean and had sufficient room for us. Trains were noisy and the park model shook at times, but we adjusted to that. Out main problem was that there were nightly drinking parties in this section, going on until early morning. There were signs saying that there is a nightly"quiet time", but it rarely got quiet. The partying came from 3 or 4 different sites that appeared to get together nightly. Management was aware of the parties, but did not do much to stop it. We understand that people like to gather around a fire and have a good time, but this should've done within guidelines posted. Our Previous stays here were better. This time was incredibly disappointing!
