We stayed at the hotel for 3 days and had a wonderful time. The water park is just the right size and the water slides are good. My favorite part of the water park was the hot tub. The starfish room is a little on the small side and could use an update , but was very clean. Our boys did a little fishing in the bay and caught a few fish to throw back. They loved that. The location is amazing and early entry to cedar point is even better. We will definitely be making a return trip!!!

This resort offered a great deal with Cedar Point park tickets, early entry into the park, a parking pass, waterpark tickets included for everyone in our party, not to mention our overnight stay at the resort. Staff was very friendly. The rooms were nice & the decor throughout the resort was beautiful. Lots of extras offered at the resort...restaurants, gift shops, arcade, & the indoor waterpark! It was great...lots of fun areas to explore! The only place we ate at the resort was at Big Daddy's inside the waterpark. Ordered a large pizza which was hot & delicious & larger than most large pizzas. It had 10 good size slices so the 5 of us in our party could each have 2.

Our room was nice, my 3 year old loved the water park and my wife and I had fun too. TGIFriday's was a bit overrun when we visited for dinner so the service was slow but friendly. One of the smaller slides was closed during our entire stay with no explanation. The wave pool and play pool each were closed at separate times as well due to issues that were not controllable by the park staff. Overall I'd recommend a visit for a family with young kids.

Room Tip: The bed in our Starfish room was a bit small for my wife and I. We'll definitely get a bigger r...

After going to Maui Sands and having a terrible time this hotel was nice! For all those wondering how it compares to Kalahari and Great Wolf Lodge it is in the same ballpark....... The kids looooooved the waterpark and liked it as mch as the others. The theme is nice, good food, and clean as well. Try it you'll enjoy it..... Do not go to Maui Sands!!!!!

I don't know how this place gets bad reviews ?! We drove 1900 miles just to go to Cedar Point and really debated on which of the resorts to stay at due to the reviews.
Our room was amazing (a tarpon suite) the king size bed was super comfortable, our kids ranging from 15-9 loved the separate space for themselves with the bunk beds, they were actually really excited !! And our room was clean. The next morning at the water park was great.. Maybe it's because we stayed during mid week, but we had no problems getting on the slides. The lifeguards were great! Although my 10 yr old is a great swimmer they still made sure due to height requirements she wore her life jacket. The hotel really has a lot for the younger crowd to do also. A game room and on the 3 rd floor and activity center for coloring , karaoke and movies at night. I would definitely recommend Castaway Bay !!

My dad and I took my three boys to Cedar Point and stayed at Castaway Bay. It was a great location, just at the intersection to the main entrance to CP. Resort check-in was quick and our room was ready when we arrived at 9am! We grabbed our CP park tickets, unpacked our car, and went to CP. It was a nice perk to get into the park an hour ahead of the general public and we saved a lot of money by buying a hotel/CP ticket package.

After a few hours at CP we came back to the hotel and the we enjoyed the water park. It was fun, had several different levels of "thrills" to keep our party (ages 4-74) occupied. The lifeguards were helpful and VERY vigilant. We have been to many, many watermarks and these lifeguards were by far the best I have seen.

The only hiccup we had in our stay was a strong, noxious smell coming from our air conditioner in the middle of the night. It smelled just like hot asphalt. I shut off the unit, opened the patio door and hallway door to get the smell out with little improvement. I did call the front desk to see if maintenance could look at the unit. The clerk at the desk was very concerned, asking if anyone was having a hard time breathing or headaches, etc., (maintenance had left for the night...it was like 3am) and offered to move us to a different room. She sent a housekeeper to help us move our belongings, but the room she took me to had the same strange, overpowering smell, only worse. I even made my dad go to the other room to make sure I wasn't imagining it. By that time, enough of a breeze had blown through our original room that the smell had finally cleared out and we opted too stay in it. Fortunately, it was a beautiful evening and we didn't need air conditioning.

The clerk and the housekeeper both explained that the filters in the air conditioners sometimes need to be changed and start to smell strange when they do. "Strange" wasn't the word I would have used, but they promised to have maintenance look at both units in the morning.

Waterpark advice: you may take your own swim vests if you have them for your kids. Also, even though the room description said only 4 passes came with the room, we received one for a each of our five people without paying extra. We hit the waterpark at about 2-5pm on a Monday afternoon and we could practically walk on any ride we wanted. Tuesday we went again around 11a-1p and it was considerably more crowded and we waited a long time for the big slides. There were a few daycare groups there on field trips which probably made a big difference.

If you are on a budget, think about bringing some breakfast food from home because the little snack bar that also serves coffee and breakfast foods is total highway robbery. We paid $4.15 for a literal Bob Evans breakfast sandwich! Yes, like the frozen ones you get at the convenience store for $1.50 and throw in the microwave. I guess that is what you get for buying, breakfast at a resort, but those prices were unbelievable. Even Disney isn't that expensive.

Overall, we the hotel was nice, the staff were helpful and waterpark was excellent. We would stay there again if we ever go back to Cedar Point.

Room Tip: All rooms have a screened-in balcony / patio, which I thought was strange at first, but when I reali...

Thank you for taking the time to provide a review of your stay. I apologize you had issues with you A/C unit. As a note to future guests, we do provide complimentary use of life jackets. If you prefer to bring your own, it must be US Coast Guard approved.
