First off, let me share that I love the breakfasts and the receptions, and that the bedding was soft and comfy. The front desk clerk was not helpful at all. I had to prompt her to tell us where our room, where to park, and the location of the pool and fitness center. We were just walking around to check out the pool and fitness center when we came upon the manager's reception. We would have missed it otherwise. Our room was on the small side. There is no place to open a second suitcase in the bedroom. We had to use the coffee table. Also, the bathroom faucet leaked and the seal around the toilet and bathtub were inadequate, so we had towels on the floor all the time. Speaking of towels, Housekeeping forgot to bring us two bath towels so we had to get some from the fitness center. This was a trip to visit family in Aurora, so I'd stay again as I prefer a suite-hotel to a regular room and nothing was intolerable.
We stayed there for one night traveling through Cleveland. It is a typical and very predictable Homewood Suites - very adequate with all the amenities that a tired traveler may need. Clean and quiet. Breakfast was OK. In and out with little to remember, frankly (do not mean this as a negative comment).
I only stayed here for one night, but the room was clean, had everything I needed, and the wireless internet was fast - great for getting work done. They had freshly baked cookies at the desk when I checked in, and popcorn in the lobby as well.
The Homewood Suites at Solon are an excellent option for a long-ish stay in the area. The location is easily accessed from the Cleveland airport, and has several restaurants and other amenities at very convenient distances.
The good: This hotel was typical Homewood Suites. I was traveling with 2 brothers and my Father and none of us had to share a bed, between the air mattress we brought, the pullout, and the 2 queen beds. There was plenty of room for all of us which was fantastic. The rooms were well appointed, extremely clean, and everything we could've asked for after a long drive from NYC. Breakfast was as good as we had become accustomed to at a Homewood, and the staff was extremely helpful.
One more plus for Hilton HHonors members: booking this hotel on a rewards stay for 20-30k points is a steal.
The bad: This hotel is out in the middle of nowhere. Not a big deal for us, but for those in a hurry, staying here may not be your best idea.
