I stayed at Hocking Hills Resort for my niece's wedding. Trying to get in touch with the wedding coordinator was almost impossible. She made various errors in billing. My cabin was billed incorrectly from the beginning, I tried to talk to her and left various messages through voice mails and messages to other employees. She Never Returned my Calls!!!! It is now over three weeks and I am still trying to resolve this issue. While the wedding was nice the coordinator was very unreliable. I would definetly not suggest this as a venue.

These Love Bug Cabins were exactly what a couple could ask for if they traveled to Hocking Hills for the aesthetics and want to get the most out of their expenses. As a general tip to future traveler's, if you go to check in and no one is at the office, there should be a sign in sheet next to the front door. Sign your name there, and you can then head to your cabin, and the keys will be inside atop the table. You just have to check in later in the evening, usually around 5.

The road up to the resort is a little treacherous, but after a bit, you get used to it, however, I don't know how it will fare in the winter. The cabins were perfect in that they suited exactly what a couple simply wanting to get away is looking for. Although meals are not provided, there is a full kitchen save for an oven. There is a refrigerator and we simply planned to make breakfasts, pack lunches (as we hiked everyday), and had dinner at various local restaurants.

The cabin is designed for two, and cannot accommodate for any more. Also, the cabin has no full walls, so you will hear EVERYTHING your spouse is doing. If you find it awkward when someone needs to use the restroom, you can turn on the television, but otherwise, it was very intimate and we actually enjoyed being able to communicate no matter where we were.

The bathroom was amazing. Although different in its setup (it's made for two and is very open), the view is gorgeous and the foliage and placement of the cabins do a good job with privacy. The glass atrium was a very special touch that we enjoyed. The water is well water, and sometimes there is not enough pressure, however, it is replenished very quickly, and we took baths in the evenings and showers in the morning. The tub was large enough for two as well as the shower area that also had a bench. You are provided with 4 towels, and I believe you can refurnish at the office if need be.

The bed is very comfortable and clean, and the fireplace was gorgeous. Do note that if you plan to use the fireplace, it heats the cabin extremely quickly. I would suggest to chill the cabin while you're out for the day using the fan and air conditioning so that the heat doesn't stifle in the evenings. The outdoor deck is of wonderful use in the evenings, and the view of the stars is sublime (I've never seen that many stars before). The outdoor grill was just enough to grill our chicken, however, it's usage doesn't go far past that.

If you're looking for a getaway, this is a perfect location to get the most bang out of your buck. It is a 2 minute drive to Ash Cave, and about 10 from Old Man's Cave, which are very good light hiking areas and are very scenic. It's quiet in the evenings and very private. We stayed at Love Bug #6, and had dinner at Grouse Nest, which was delicious. Their herb garden is also worth a walk through.

There is a lounge if you need wireless, however, you get no reception pretty much anywhere in the area, as most are looking for an outdoor retreat.
All in all, it's perfect for a cheaper getaway for young and old couples alike.

I am sorry the other reviewers did not care for the cabins. We had a very different experience. My husband and I traveled with another couple and stayed here from Oct. 21-25. We rented Love Bug #5 and our friends had #6. First, the location was amazing. VERY private and wooded....just what we were looking for. The cabins were adorable and just right for a couple. The atrium-style bathroom was fabulous, and we really enjoyed the glass fireplace and the outdoor chimnerea. They were clean and well-stocked, and as with every other cabin we have stayed in, there is no maid service while you are there. You can get clean towels, supplies, etc. at the office if you need them. Television channels were not plentiful, and there was no cell phone reception or internet at the cabins, but again this was pretty much an area-wide situation. Wireless is available at the lounge, but it really didn't work very well. Our bed was comfy, and the tin roof made it very cozy on the day it rained. We ate at the restaurant on site twice, and it was fine. A better choice for dinner is the Inn at Cedar Falls, but you can pre-order dinner or pizza in your cabin if you want. The cabins have a kitchen with everything but an oven, so again, as with all the cabins we have ever stayed at, we made our own breakfast right there. We plan on going back, and on surprising our daughter and her husband with a weekend there for their anniversary.

Not at all impressed with my stay. Many other great places to stay in the area. Should have relied on personal reviews instead of their own advertisments. Glad to see that others are out there that were willing to express their dissapointment with this place.

Definitely do not reccomend this as a romantic getaway.

From looking at their website, you would think they were guest oriented., Wrong, from personal experience, the stay was anything but great. If you don't mind sitting in their parking lot for four hours to check in and if you don't mind their switching your cabin on you, this could be your place, but if you like getting what you expected from a guest friendly establishment,Save yourself a lot of time and expense by staying at a more professionally run lodging.

After reviewing their website online we booked two nights in one of the available Love Bug cabins and promptly recieved a confirmation along with a lenghty lease document to fill out and return. Upon arriving on the confirmed day we spent four hours waiting for someone to show up. We arrived at 2:30 PM and a sign hung on the door said. Will Be Back at 4:00. At 6:00 when another guest arrived a more robust search for someone to check us in began. Even though the resturant was open and other workers witnessed us sitting in the parking lot for hours, there wasn't much concern. When we finally did convince them we had reservations, even a signed copy of the lease, they switched us from the romantic cabin that we had signed up for to a very putrid green cabin. To say the least, there was no romance that evening and we forfeited our money after the first day and left. What a poor, poor managed place. I Sure wouldn't trust them for a wedding or any other event. Unless you don't mind taking chances, this is one place to avoid.

Although Hocking Hills area is lovely and the site is in the middle of the woods, the basics are lacking. We were in a 2-person cabin at $160/night - no meals in included. The mattress made us roll to the center of the bed; every lamp had a very low wattage bulb making it impossible to read in bed or in the sitting area chairs. Shower has very low flow. There is no housekeeping service to replace towels or make the bed. "Resort" is misleading since there is no pool or other amenity, not even a hiking trail from the site.
The attached restaurant is good, but no alcohol on Sundays and no breakfast service at all!
