“Best sunset in Springfield.”

Very well kept state park. Nice camp ground & marina. Picnic table up over the marina is a great place for a late picnic & to watch the sun set. Also a great place to fly a kite or ride a bike.

“Nice camping”
Reviewed 8 March 2014

We stayed in our RV and camped at this state park. The campsite are well spaced out. Although we camped in Feb., we were very pleased with the parks layout and bathrooms. The bathroom was very clean and plenty of hot water for showers. The laudery mat was open and clean as well. There was a fire ring at each capsite. I would highly recomend camping here.

“The slum of Ohio parks - Buck Creek State Park”
Reviewed 7 February 2014

Buck Creek State Park in Springfield, Ohio is truly the slum of Ohio parks. You cannot walk through the paths of this park without seeing large amounts of trash and items scattered throughout the park. Trash cans are only visible and on-site during summer months and I am not sure what the logic is behind that but I am sure that it is at least part of the overall problem with the trash issue.

The most urgent problem for those that love to hike would be the massive uncontrolled amount of raccoons in this park. As you are walking through the park, you can frequently see the raccoons in the limbs of trees, not exactly a safe place if you have small children or animals with you. Well, not exactly safe for anyone really.

The park rangers at this point seem overly concerned about abandoned pet cats in the area. These cats have been spayed by area shelters and returned to the park because the shelters are full and do not have areas to keep them. Even though the cat population is not growing, the park has secured one of the cats above a women's restroom. The cat had been entering into because the park never fixed the hole in the roof or bottoms of the doors to being with. This cat is now trapped in above this restroom along with hibernating raccoons where she will either starve to death or be killed by the raccoons as they intermittently wake from hibernating and want food. In addition to this, the park rangers are telling visitors that they are going to start shooting abandoned and feral animals in the park. Just keep in mind that this may not be a great road trip for kids.

The restroom facilities at this park are not well taken care of and are almost always extremely dirty. Many of the restroom facilities are only open during summer months (like there isn't a need during winter?)

There is a marina restaurant open during summer months that serves nice sandwiches and snack type foods.

“Clean, safe, Fun for the family”
Reviewed 25 November 2013

we often visit the park as we are on the same end of town and it is a nice quiet drive to see all kinds of wildlife. Only bad thing is that people have recently started dropping off cats and we hate to see them here starving, cold, wet, in danger from predators, etc.

we have stayed here in the cabins and they are nice, clean and reasonable. The marina is full serve with a snack bar and they are friendly and always go out of the way to help

the rangers are great too, friendly and helpful.

“Want to camp in a car lot”
Reviewed 4 September 2013

We camped over Labor Day weekend. The bathrooms were dirty. My 15 year old grandson would not use it. Site was for a 40 ft RV. We had a 35 ft RV and it barely fit. When we went to fill up with water, people were using the location to clean out there dump equipment. It was located at the dump station. Nasty! The site across from us had 3 tents and an RV on a single site. They had 6 vehicles and 2 motorcycles as well. They were driving in and out all day and half the night. Could not complain to the camp host because their site was just as bad. They had live music from there cars blaring all day. They followed no rules or regs. I have been in full camp grounds and they were great. This one I would not recommend. Will not be back.
