Description: Opened in October 2012 and located in the heart of historical Downtown Sylvania, Ohio, Element 112 offers a carefully crafted dining experience with outstanding service, comfortable ambiance, and exceptional cuisine. With menus inspired by the four natural elements - earth, air, fire, and water - Chef Nixon uses only the freshest seasonal ingredients to create a dining experience that is both innovative and unexpected. Menus change daily, and are reflective of what Chef has been able to source that day from his farm, his fish mongers, specialty purveyors, farmer's markets, and the Element 112 garden. Chef Nixon only chooses suppliers with the highest standards and ethical practices, in order to provide Element 112 with the highest quality products. Our Chef's Tasting Menu allows the Element 112 kitchen to create an experience that wholly expresses the Element 112 cuisine. Courses on our Chef's Tasting Menu change frequently, reflecting seasonality and Chef Nixon's current inspirations. Element 112 features the only wine list in Northwest Ohio with three Wine Spectator Restaurant Awards.

This delightful restaurant is a gem! The atmosphere is sophisticated and artsy. We started with outdoor seating off the bar to start a bottle of wine. The sommelier is very knowledgeable and led us to a great choice. Then we were shown to our table in the private dining area where there is a wall of wine, a wall of books and art, and a glass wall that allows full view of the busy kitchen. The only downside here is that with only three of us, our voices echoed and it was hard to converse. We each ordered the tasting menu which is an incredible bargain, especially coming from Seattle where we would pay twice the price for this exquisite experience. The flavors, presentation, and creativity were remarkable. I hope they create a recipe book so I can try to recreate some of these dishes. After our meal we were given a tour of the kitchen and herb garden. The whole experience was wonderful and I would highly recommend it. The staff is friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable.

Loved the tasting menu with the little tastings in between. Great attention to detail, wonderful flavors, even a kitchen tour included. Gnocchi was the best ever. Can't wait to return.

My wife and I enjoyed the tasting menu one evening. This was more of an experience than a meal. We opted for the sommelier wine option and he explained carefully how he chose and paired the wines as well as information about the wines themselves. The tasting menu came with small portions of food for various portions of the meal as well as "treats" at various stages. All of these were unique and delicious. The entire experience lasted about 2 hours and was delightful, but not inexpensive.

Wow, what a good time! After a quick tour of the kitchen (immaculate, serious, precise), we started by selecting the cocktails representing the four elements, e. g. Air, made of Plymouth gin, Elderflower syrup, Violette, and egg whites. The four of us lined them up, shared, sipped and were off to a great start.

We all selected the tasting menu, with an excellent bottle of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc (Seifried). Immediately little gifts from the chef started arriving, like a taste of the best risotto I've ever had. The first course for me was Squash Blossoms - I'd expected the French style, but these were stuffed with a delicate meat, fried with Parmigiano-Reggiano, and a dab of Marinara; excellent! Then the best chicken breast I've ever had, etc.,etc.

The server was totally helpful and personable. Ambience was excellent for talking.

All-in-all one of the best meals I've ever had.

Love the bar area that opens to the patio! Tasting menu was very good; servers were attentive but a couple had mild attitudes.
