Decide to try this hotel as new to area, what a find....lovely place and very relaxed atmosphere. The room were fine, although no mobile phone signal (which was not the end of the world). Leaving the best bit to last...the food at supper was too die for, better than places I visit in big cities, and the waitress had the most wonderful smiling eyes!!!...........A welcome sight for a tired traveller

Thank you for making my evening stay a pleasurable experience

Stayed here for one night on business trip. Excellent hotel, friendly staff, superb food and service. Room was large and comfortable. Would stay here if I was to come to the area for a holiday. Loved that they had decent coffee in the room, instead of the usual cheap Nescafé or Kemco.

We have just spent 2 nights at The Grange and can't speak too highly of it. From the moment of arrival to the moment of departure it was delightful, we were welcomed by Jon, shown to a lovely room, given information of places to walk. The food, both at dinner and breakfast, was delicious, and the staff were so helpful. This is a real family run hotel, and the little extra touches made it a special experience. We would certainly return, and recommend it to anyone.

We wanted a few days away in this area, and came across The Grange on the internet; I was impressed by the excellent comments it received, so we booked a three day , half board package, and enjoyed it very much. The hotel is tucked away, down a lane, but it is clearly signed, and it's location means it is nice and quiet.
First impressions were good; a pleasant welcome, and a property that is really well maintained. The Manager, Jonathan Fletcher, is a great asset. He always seemed to be around, and offered us helpful tips about where to visit, as well as sharing some interesting anecdotes with us.
We had booked a superior room, No.10, which opened out onto the garden, and was beautifully maintained . We were a little disappointed with the shower; it always worked, and had lots of hot water, but it was a little bit old fashioned.
We had Dinner on all three evenings, from a compact menu, with a few daily changes. Food was excellent, although rich. My choice on evening one was Duck in a rather extravagant sauce, followed by sticky toffee pudding ! I learned my lesson subsequently, enjoying the quite excellent lemon posset on day two and the equally good lemon sorbet on our final night.
My wife had a slightly disappointing experience with her first breakfast, ordering smoked salmon and scrambled eggs; it was obvious as soon as the dish was placed on the table that things were not right; instead of being moist and fluffy, the eggs looked dry and dull. Most of it was left, but when the plate was collected, no-one asked if anything was wrong. On the two subsequent days, my wife ordered kippers, which were excellent, whilst I had the boiled eggs, equally good.
All in all, a most enjoyable stay; we would recommend The Grange, and would happily return.

We stayed here for 2 nights on a voucher deal, which was excellent value for money. Beautiful quiet and peaceful location close to lovely Sherborne. It is a very attractive property and the lovely staff create a warm, friendly and homely atmosphere. Our room was large with lovely views (shame about the rain spoiling it though!), very clean and comfortable. Good wifi. We had dinner in the restaurant the first night and the food was superb. The service was excellent too. Great breakfast with lots of choice and freshly cooked. I can highly recommend this hotel and I can't wait to go back there - we have the excuse - we need to go again to see it in the sunshine!

Room Tip: I think all rooms would be quiet, it's just a case of whether you want to do stairs or not.

This hotel is a gem. It is a small country house hotel set in a quiet rural location and provides everything anyone could need for a relaxing break. The whole ambience of the hotel is superb from the moment you walk through the door. The manager and staff are all friendly and efficient and nothing is too much trouble. The room we stayed in was spacious and had a really comfortable bed. The dinner we had was first class and the breakfast is to die for. One of the best hotel cooked breakfasts I have ever experienced. If it is the little touches that make a hotel then the delivery of a card to your room each evening wishing you a good night's sleep and telling you what the next day's weather forecast is was a clincher for us. We can't wait to return!

Room Tip: Room 15 is brilliant. It is large, has good views and has a door leading to a balcony and steps to...
