Not good, not bad, just the same old beans and rice dishes but my pork fajitas were actually pretty good. Service a bit slow. Margaritas were frozen and from a mix. Not the worst but there are many authentic Mexican places in Tulsa to choose and this one is simply average.

Every since they reopened under the new owner (this was an Arizona Mexican restaurant before that was terrible!) it is very good. The remodeled so it seems very clean, the food is always very good and the service is fine. I have a business in the same shopping center so I do eat there at least once a week if not more. Love the lunch specials and I haven't had a bad meal there at all. If we go in the evenings sometimes my wife would like a margarita and that is there only down fall. They do serve margarita's but the do not have a "true" bar with a bartender so my wife is not very impressed with the margarita but if that isn't an issue for you then I believe this is as good as Mexican food gets!

El Viejos has a much more varied menu than most Mexican restaurants. The Caldo de Cameron (shrimp soup) is wonderful, as are the Chile Relleno and House Relleno (like a big, stuffed meatball.) The Huevos Rancheros are excellent every time, and even the beans and rice are delicious (the mark of a truly good Mexican restaurant.) The service is exemplary! Ask for the spicy salsa! I would rate everything as excellent, moderately priced. (This form won't let me click on ratings below...)

Both the good and bad reviews of this restaurant shows that in regard to food of any kind, it's all about personal taste. This restaurant is no different, but the reality is that you are going to get run-of-the-mill Mexican fare and service. Nothing stands out or is different than anywhere else you'll go in the area. It's not outstanding and it's not horrible. Just average. The site has been a Mexican restaurant for nearly 20 years now, and every name that has come and gone has done reasonably well there, but the original was the Arizona Restaurant which opened its doors in 1997. That place was an instant classic while the late Isabel Zambrano was running it. The man knew how to manage a restaurant and everything about it was outstanding from the service to the food to the decor, it all meshed together and flowed flawlessly. After his passing in early fall 2004 it began going slowly downhill. His successors made a valiant effort to keep it together, even briefly splitting the menu to add German cuisine, but it just never was the same. Some folks such as myself might now judge all Mexican restaurants, and especially the ones at this location, by the quality of the Arizona which closed its doors over seven years ago. Maybe that's not quite fair, but it is the reality of things. God bless you Isabel Zambrano, you were one of a kind and are sorely missed, my friend, not only by the industry but by many Mexican food aficianados in Broken Arrow.

El Viejo was a disappointment, Highly recommended by family, we tried it. Service was slow and far from great, part of our party were served their entrees before we even ordered. Green chili sauce was vinegary, beans and rice tasteless. Would have preferred Ted's.....
