“Decent for the price you pay”
Reviewed 2 December 2011

I was in Norman visiting friends. I would typically stay at the Comfort Inn or some other place slightly above a Motel 6. However, it was a football weekend, and I was not in a place to pay $150 a night. My friends suggested the Motel 6 as it had been recently renovated.

It was clean, and the people working there were pleasant.

Basically it was a clean place to sleep and shower, and that was fine seeing as it was only $60 a night. I did stay on the first floor, and the noise from the lobby area was quite loud. The tv out there was on until about 11:30, and you could hear people coming in and out. Also was able to hear some old-fashioned printer printing out something REALLY early in the morning... And the heating/AC unit didn't seem to work. It was a little warm for me and couldn't remedy that problem.

I experienced the 5.6 earthquake while there, and my first impression was that someone was trying to break into my room. I guess I would say it's a decent place to stay, but try getting a room that's not directly off the lobby area.

Room Tip: Rooms on first floor off of lobby are will be LOUD.

This is a newer property - maybe less than 3 years old. I stayed here for 5 days and didn’t really have any trouble. Some minor things happened, but not anything drastic. I would stay here again.

There are tenants on property. People having just moved to the area that have been there for a month plus. I didn’t have any problems with them, they all seemed very friendly and helpful.

PROS: New hotel - everything brand new. The lobby was clean and inviting, the rooms were large - lots of room to move around.

WIFI worked great - only have to log in after long periods of inactivity. Only took a few seconds even then.

All the smoking rooms seem to be on the 3rd floor.

They had baggage carts which was very helpful.

Big desk area to work at was great.

TV mounted on the wall was easy to see from different areas of the room.

Fridge and microwave was clean and cold.

The vending machines had fresh stock in them.

Washers and dryers worked fine. (On the first floor)

The beds were comfortable and the pillows hard and soft. All bedding was clean and bug free!

There is an elevator or stairs.

A couple of friendly desk attendants during the day.

Bathroom was big and clean. Felt very comfortable soaking in the bath. Water was hot in shower and lasted forever. (Tile is a bit slippery when coming out of the shower - so watch it)

Some stores and restaurants within driving distance. I suppose you could walk to a few, but traffic is difficult to cross.

Housekeeping was very nice - asked for extra towels and they gave over plenty. (It didn't hurt that I tipped them - but they were still nice before hand)

A PRO and a CON: About 11:30pm, if not later, the fire alarm went off. Front desk clerk couldn’t be found to ask what was going on. On one hand, it scared the crap out of me - on the other hand, it was great to know it was in working order and loud enough to wake the dead.

CONS: There is no pool or exercise area. (For those wondering)

Key card had to be constantly redone. I would have to go back to lobby to fix problem, then go back up 3 floors (with hands full of dinner, paperwork, etc. ) to see if it worked or not. Very inconvenient.

The rooms weren’t all that quiet. Neighbors slammed doors (unintentionally - the doors are heavy), there was one child running the hallway screaming that no one took control over (very annoying at 10 at night). During the week it was quiet.

I shared a wall with the elevator (unbeknownst to me). Took me a while to figure out why the bed was shaking (no quarters machine on this bed... unfortunately) and what the humming sound was. Wasn’t really irritating - just odd.

The closet is a little hard to get to in a double room. You have to hug the wall to get to it.

Desk attendant at night was either outside, on break, or just not to be found. Seemed friendly enough when you found him, but didn’t know much of anything.

Room Tip: Get a room near the elevator or stairs in case your key card goes out (and it will). Plus being near...

Live locally, but when the AC went out during one of the hottest summers in memory, just needed a reasonably priced, clean and cool place to stat. This fit the bill. No real amenities, except vending machines with sodas & snacks, a guest laundry & free coffee, but the rooms were clean & the beds were OK. Towels were a bit small, and the only luxuries were 2 small bars of soap, but again, they were clean & decent sized. Under the same conditions, I'd stay again.
