Description: Trappers offers a truly unique backwoods fishing lodge atmosphere. It is located in the Reno/Meridian Hotel-Airport corridor, near the Fairgrounds. Trappers has been the "Horsemen's and Horsewomen's Headquarters" for over a decade. A 12 ft. Tall Kodiak bear greets customers as they enter the dining room filled with game trophies, authentic Indian canoes, and a live alligator tank. Favorites, along with signature mesquite grilled seafood dishes, are the blackened prime rib, mesquite grilled steaks, quail, and prime pork chops.

We sat at the bar for an appetizer dinner of gumbo (excellent) and Anne's Crab Chip 'n Dip (huge portion). Both good with cold beers. The décor is fish camp style and visually pleasing.

We have visited Trappers 3-4 times a year (when in town for horse shows). Something has changed (management or something). The service was not as good and the food has dropped several notches in quality. If this how things will be from now on, we will find a new place for our steak dinners. What a shame.

Big guy who was our waiter seemed to yell at us and lunch took a while. Food was okay though but a little pricey for lunch

We visited Trapper's on a Wednesday lunch - it was not busy. We were seated and greeted by the waitstaff quickly...but that was the last "quick" move she made that day. I ordered the coconut shrimp, which was good and plentiful. We both had water to drink and our water glasses were empty when we received our food and were not refilled until the bill was delivered. Nothing like having a meal without anything to drink- we didn't even see our waitstaff to ask for a refill. One disturbing situation - one of the televisions over the bar was tuned to a hunting show. I am eating and look up just in time to see an animal being shot...I know we are in Oklahoma but really? I don't want to see that while dining.

Our son recommended trying Trapper's as he had been there before. We tried a little bit of everything including the blackened Alligator, calamari, coconut shrimp, gumbo, steaks, creole shrimp pasta, fried catfish and blackened prime rib. The warm bread and butter was really good too. Everyone was happy with their meals. Unfortunately we didnt have any room left for dessert. I found the service to be very friendly and professional. The waiter went out of his way to look after us. The decor is very unique and not a place you stumble across every day.
