I had the opportunity to stay at the Mayo Hotel last night. This historic hotel recently went through a dramatic renovation and so I was expecting a lot. Overall, the hotel is steeped in history as depicted by the photos on its walls and the renovation has kept much of the charm that was probably once a feature of it in the golden days.
However, in comparison to a few other historic hotels that I've stayed at, I think this was a good hotel but nothing that I would go out of my way for. The decor was very nice but not amazing. The rooms were good but nothing special. And, the food service for our dinner meeting was slow and clumsy at best.
For the money, this was not a bad option but certainly nothing that I would real excited about.More
