We took a self-guided tour of the campus just to look at the unusual buildings and structures. I guess many people stop to see the giant praying hands, but there is so much more. Most interesting is the prayer tower, right in the middle of campus. It is beautiful and looks oddly new, as if dust dosesn't even stick to it. Surrounding the tower are some very pretty and quiet gardens. They seem more eastern than western, but not completely out of place.

I was never a fan of OR or his crazy, egomanical wingnut politics, but this campus is weird, beautiful and definately worth a tour. The prayer tower was not open when we visited, but I am bound and determined to return some day just to see the inside.

Sep 2 2013 - This is a most beautiful campus, the gardens invite you to enjoy the beauty of the meticulously maintained landscape. From the Praying Hands, Flames representing the Spirit to the Prayer Tower, you will enjoy a peaceful walk, reflecting time, and quiet places to offer up your prayers.

Our initial reaction to the ORU campus was that it was weird, and the use of gold in the buildings seemed garish. However, after spending several days walking around the campus, the architecture grows on you, and the gardens beckon one to sit and enjoy the beauty of the meticulously maintained landscape. It was very interesting to learn the reasoning behind the designs of the buildings.

The campus is pretty, green and friendly. We stopped to see the Praying Hands statue and take a photo. Easy access. The statue is quite large and several people were in the area for the same reason.
