The renovated Geiser Grand is very nice and historically accurate. It is not a big property so in some cities it would be considered a boutique hotel. That said--the very spacious bathroom could use additional amenities such as more hooks, another towel bar, and a longer shelf (or set of shelves) for toiletry kits. None of these suggestions would detract from the historical accuracy.

Wi-fi service was ridiculously slow!

The restaurant food was very oridinary. The hotel should be able to attract better creativity. I will return to Baker City, but I won't waste my money on the food at the Geiser Grand because the little local restaurants serve better.

We stayed here for two nights on an Amazon Local special and were very pleased with our stay. The room was clean and very spacious and the Wednesday evening dinner special (Pasta Bar) was excellent! We would definitely stay here again!

The Geiser Grand Hotel is indeed Grand. It's beautiful remodel, classy dining room, library, cupola rooms and convenient downtown location make it a must if you are staying in Baker City, Oregon. From the outset and you know that care, love, and concern have been put into the fantastic remodel, including stained glass over the lobby. Have no doubt, the hotel is haunted. They say souls exist in the hallways from those that have jumped from the windows almost a century ago. We did not experience any such apparition but the joint certainly fits the bill as a haunted hotel. The room we had on the third floor was roomy, nice TV, DVD player with over 1000 dvd's to choose from... free in the lobby The bed was comfortable, the linens, clean and warm. Extra blanket and pillow in the closet, great coffee maker, soaps, shampoo, not quite enough linens but adequate for just the two of us. There was free internet, easy to log on, good cell reception, ice machine on second floor only and in house restaurant ( great food ) and bar. The drawbacks were that there could be a little more attention given to the housekeeping, dust on the lamps and headboard, water stains on the curtains, and no fresh air ( but we were never too cold or warm ) …the windows are sealed…but after all…the place is haunted.

Room Tip: Triple A rates are best.

We almost missed this place because of some less than perfect reviews. A couple of reviews had complained about charges on their credit cards they were not informed about. But these were really just the "holds" on credit lots of places do, not a problem unless you only have a $500 limit or so.

What a grand place. A really great hotel that was saved from the wrecking ball in the '90s and completely redone. Our room had a great view of the Blue Mountains and was very comfortable. The bed was great, it was quiet. The ceilings are about a zillion feet up. The grand old days.

We had a micro brew in the bar and then retreated to the dining room for great service and good food. And they had bread pudding for dessert and I have to sample it everywhere I find it even though I had no room left after that filling dinner. It was worth it.

The front desk help staff was very friendly on the phone and in person. The gift shop is stuffed with Pendleton blankets and products and more.

What a grand place, glad we did not pass it by based on a couple of outlier reviews.

I LOVE restored historic hotels! Geiser Grand and Columbia Gorge are the nicest in OR!
The building restoration is stunning- not complete- but very elegant. We always ask for suites with "special" views- and are NEVER disappointed! Two story windows looking out towards the hills and the vast sky. The big King beds are so comfortable- Baths and room-sizes are spacious- and many even have a separate sitting room. We had 2 flat screen tvs this last stay- though we never turn one on when at the Geiser! The dining experience is 5 STAR!! Our waitress, Alyse, was so knowledgeable, and personable. The aged prime beef was the BEST we have had this far north of Nevada! Cooked to perfection. We always feel spoiled and pampered when we stay here. (I feel like a wealthy heiress, in 1900's!) We have only once had some "challenges" with desk clerks. But, the owner urged us to "give us a try, again". SO GLAD WE DID! This will always be my choice for all our special occasions. Very nostalgic and romantic.

The Geiser Grand Hotel is really special. The history of the building and the small city is important to the region, and you get it all when you stay at the Geiser Grand. We've stayed there 3 times now, and each time, I notice that the maintenance is excellent, which is hard to keep up with such an old building asthis. The decor is beautiful, the beds super comfortable, the staff extremely courteous. They have an olde timey saloon, and gorgeous, excellent restaurant, also.

Room Tip: This was a business trip, we stayed in the back overlooking the parking lot. The room was huge and...

We looked forward to getting a well-deserved "pampered" weekend and thought The Grand would serve that purpose...WRONG! They charged an outrageous/misc fee of $250 "Incidental fee" that automatically is taken from your bank, so basically the hotel is getting a "loan" on my dime. The front staff was fairly pleasant, but didn't really go out of their way to accommodate. We didn't get a turn-down service, had to ask for new towels and the room did not get straightened out while we were out. Very pretty hotel, the accommodation just needs to match the "pretty" part.
