Hard to get to, yes. Expensive, for sure. Best golf resort in the United States, hands down. If you're not a golf purist, pass it by. If you don't want to plunk down the $200+ for a round, don't. If you feel you need a cart to play, see another course.

But...if you are an enthusiast golfer; if you want a pure experience without a passport, look no further. When your playing partner is Scottish and they are RAVING about the course (Pacific Dunes) then you know you're in the right place.

Cheers and hit 'em straight. (unless that would be a bad play)

Golf at Bandon Dunes is a fairly unique experience. We played the Bandon Dunes and Pacific Dunes courses. Both courses offer terrific views of the Pacific Ocean on many holes. The courses themselves are interesting layouts for golfers, offering numberous uphill and downhill vistas (and shots), as well as doglegs in both directions. They are not overly long, but shots can be challenging due to the topography and variable winds. Walking the courses is your only option. You can rent a pull cart, but caddies (though expensive) are worth it when playing each course for the first time. We played in June, when the weather is more unpredictable, but we had partly sunny days with temps in the 60s. The accommodations are also relatively expensive and sparse, but comfortable. Restaurants are excellent (we ate dinner at Pacific Dunes and breakfast at Bandon Trails). Overall this was a worthwhile experience for any serious golfer, though considering the cost ($230-275 green fee, plus $80-100 per caddie [per bag]), this is not a golfing experience most of us are likely to repeat very often.

The golf on this property is first class. Tom Doak, David Mclay Kidd, Corr-Crenshaw - four top 100 tracks. Plus a killer par 3 course, one of the best ranges in the world and more. Simply fantastic golf. Ireland is jealous of Oregon.

Absolutely gorgeous views of the Pacific, walking is mandatory, so be prepared. Stayed in the Lilly Pond rooms. They were very nice, clean, plenty of room. I would suggest mini-fridges in the rooms, as there is plenty of room for them, and the rooms are set off from the main Lodge.

My wife and I had an outstanding golfing experience at Bandon Dunes. We spent 5 days playing all four of the excellent courses. Each course has its own character. New 13 hole par 3 course scheduled to open in early May. If you want a true golfing experience the Bandon Dunes resort is the place to go. Lodging and restaurants are outstanding and the golf courses can't be matched anywhere in the country. Played Pebble Beach and Spyglass in California just prior to going to Bandon Dunes and without a doubt, Bandon Dunes far outshines the Pebble Beach courses.
