“Best on the resort but barely”
Reviewed 18 August 2014

Read my overall review of the resort for more details. PD is not as great as Pebble but a VERY fine course. Trails is just as nice and more of a players course with out the tricked up greens.

Amazing course and tops overall on the resort. Play it in the afternoon, sunny is better visually. Morning rounds are easier as the winds are down and the greens are softer.

“Real links golf”
Reviewed 29 July 2014

If you can't make it to the British Isles for some golf the way it was meant to be played, Bandon, Oregon is the next best thing. So far, I've only played two of the four courses available, but we're going back later this year and take care of the others.
Personally I preferred Pacific Trails over the Dunes, but they are both outstanding. Beware of the afternoon wind though, it can make you doubt your ability as a golfer.
Caddies are available on these walk only courses, but it's a coin toss on what you get. Ours was borderline useless, but I've talked to others that had much better luck.

“Great golf course”

Terrific course. Could be a bear to play when wind is gusting to 25mph..Wide open with strategic bunkers. Great views of the Pacific Ocean.

“My personal favorite”
Reviewed 20 July 2014

It's hard to choose a favorite among Bandon Dunes, Pacific Dunes and Old Macdonald -- but if forced, mine would be Pac.

“Pacific Dunes where my game aBandoned me!”
Reviewed 22 June 2014

The whole Bandon Dunes resort is on a really truly amazing piece of earth that exisits in the middle of nowhere. I was playing as a single which made it easy to get on to Pacific Dunes as there were quite a few open times, and thorougly enjoyed the experience and the guys they paired me up with from Chile. The course is realitvely short from the green tees that I played, but playing this time of year with the wind means you have to pick the right set of tees or it could be a long day. The one thing I was unable to do enough of was stay out of the bunkers, and there are plenty of them. Minimalist links design makes the bunkers extremely tough and penazlizing and kicked my butt. The greens are also quite tough as there is so much different grass in them they are very tough to read and you never how they are going to roll, although they do roll fairly true they just don't look great. Esthetically the course isn't much to look at as it is very brown and dry, but the scenery is stunning and the design itself is so well thought out and planned that it really is amazing. Fairly easy course to walk that was a true pleasure to experience and really an incredible property. Price is certainly steep and there is nothing to do anywhere around Bandon itself but it was a great side trip as we travelled down the coast. Will certainly be back!
