This was our third trip to the Windermere in 2 years. We absolutely love it here! This place has the best ocean views and easy walk down to the beach below. We love old town Bandon, which is just a short 4 - 5 minute drive from the Windermere, where there is shopping, plenty of places to eat (The Bandon Bakery/Deli has the best cinnamon rolls around) or go out on a charter and get your own fish (we had a blast on the Prowler Charter). The family cottage has a kitchen and an upstairs if you have guests or kids that need their own beds. Yes, the bathroom is a bit small, but that doesn't bother us in the least. Open the sliding glass door and you get to see and hear the beautiful ocean just outside! Take a walk out to the beach and head towards Face Rock and you can see the plenty of tide pools below and caves. The best thing I love about the Bandon beaches are that they are never crowded! The most I've seen have been a few couples or a small family with kids and us. There are also stables nearby if you'd like to enjoy your beach on horseback. We watched the riders go by as the sun was beginning to set. Very beautiful! We aren't golfers, but if you like to golf, the Bandon Dunes Golf Resort (I hear is absolutely fantastic)! We found Bandon by accident on our first trip up HWY 101 driving north and are so glad that we did! We will be returning in late February/March for our wedding anniversary! Can't wait to make it back here!

Room was clean. Bed soft with extra pillows. Fireplace and a beautiful view from the balcony. Our room was on the far south end and we had a lot of privacy. Ample room for two with a sitting area, as well as microwave, stove and refrigerator. The window above our kitchen table could be opened to allow for natural air flow through the room. The balcony was protected from the wind and provided great ocean views with privacy. It was relaxing to sit and listen to the ocean waves all day and night.

Saw two whales close to shore and hundreds of star fish on the rocks on the beach.

Room Tip: Upstairs rooms on south side (rooms 19 or 20) are quiet, private, provide the best ocean views and a...

Their website photos are true to what you get in the rooms. We had the last building on the property, Room 18, which seemed to be a newer building from the rest of the hotel. The bathroom was modern and clean. The room was spacious, with a faux fire place, a kitchenette, a small sitting area, along with the bed/TV, and best of all, a sliding glass door that had a magnficant view of the coast! I left the door open to hear the sounds of the waves and gulls. There are a couple of short trails to the beach from the hotel. It's just a short distance from the turnout for Face Rock and only a short drive from Old Town Bandon. We stayed only one night, but this would have been a great place to stay for a long weekend.

We are happy you were able to visit all the way from Georgia!! Thank you for the lovely and very descriptive review. You stayed in a King Deluxe room which is newer and offers fireplaces. We hope your travels bring you to the Southern Oregon Coast again!

We stayed in a pet friendly family cottage. Very clean, upstairs and downstairs. Good view of the ocean through the patio door. Great access to take wonderful walks along the beach. Cute place would stay there again.

We stayed at the Windermere for three days with our dog and really enjoyed it. I do agree with what a few others have said about the small bathroom, but the beautiful view more than made up for it. The only thing I would like to see the management do is enforcing the rule that dogs must be on a leash. There were several people there with large dogs that were loose and I was concerned every time I took my little dog outside.

Hello, thank you for your review! We will certainly keep an eye out for guests not leashing their dogs, as we know not everyone is a dog lover and some folks are afraid. If you visit again, know that you can come to the office any time you have a concern.

Driving up the coast, we decided to stop for the night. We could only find seedy motels, but then we found a sign to a Holiday Inn. We followed the road down to it, and just across the road, right on the beach was the Windermere. We got two ocean view rooms, very reasonably priced, and a coffee maker. There was even free wifi, making the kids very happy. I even managed two jogs on the beach. It was just a shame we couldn't stay longer.

Sadly we only stayed one night, wished it could have been a week! The view to the ocean from the units is superb, wonderful walking for miles on unspoiled coastline, and the sound of the ocean as you fall asleep in a super comfy bed is fabulous. The best one nighter so far on our trip that's for sure. The shower is hot and pressure really good, the unit is very clean and the hosts are super friendly and helpful. A little home away from home. And if it had been cold the awesome gas fire would have been very cosy indeed. If we are ever this way again it will be a destination not a stop over.

Room Tip: Top last unit upstairs is very quiet and gorgeous views
