Alloro was recommended to us by a server at Bandon Dunes. Though the cuisine at Bandon Dunes far exceeded my expectations, I did want to try one great local restaurant. I'm so glad we did!

We didn't have a reservation but didn't need one as we arrived shortly after their 4 pm opening. (We hadn't eaten lunch because of the golf schedule for the day.) We were the first ones in and were greeted promptly and given a great table by the window.

Our server, when asked, made a great recommendation for a new Pinot Noir that was recently added to the menu. It was delicious and went perfectly with the cheese platter we ordered to share as an app. My husband is a connoisseur of Parmigiano Reggiano which was not offered with the cheese plate but they happily accommodated his request to to add it to ours. They actually put in on the plate and also brought him his own separate portion.

For entrees, I selected the pistachio-crusted halibut which was delicious. My husband ordered the lasagna special and it was out of this world. A very light, authentic ragu with layers of thin, homemade noodles!

We shared the cannoli for dessert which I can highly recommend.

We would certainly dine here again when we make it back to Bandon.

We recently returned from a week long road trip in Oregon, where we ate at some of the top restaurants in Portland, Ashland and Lincoln City. Of all of them, we had the best dinner at Alloro. The food was excellent, well prepared and very fresh. Crab right off the dock. The dishes accented the flavors of each fresh ingredient and were well seasoned. The flavor combinations were well balanced and the dishes nicely presented. We brought a nice wine from our cellar, but their wine list had a number of excellent selections.

The service was excellent as well. And Bethany provided the most considered approach to fresh ground pepper I have encountered in a restaurant. With each rotation of the grinder, she distributed the pepper all the way around the plate, so that if one said "enough" the dish would be evenly coated. The place was a bit noisy, some diners asked to be moved away from the main dining room, but we were seated at a table out of the way a bit and noise was not a problem.

We had another good meal in Ashland at Coquina, which had moved there from Bandon. The owner said Alloro used to be their primary competition. I was surprised to find that the best meals we had in Oregon had originated in the same small seaside town.

All in all a wonderful meal. I would definitely go back.

Very Friendly staff & their housemade pasta dishes were delicious. We were so impressed the first night, we booked a table for the next night. The only reservation available was 5:15 in a Window table, so we took it. Unfortunately, when we arrived, different staff people were there & another party was seated at the window table. Disappointing! We were seated at a booth towards the back of the restaurant, not as nice... Food was OK, ordered Rack of Lamb, that was served cooked right, but lukewarm. We will return, but with specific reservations about where to sit. Great martinis & nice wine list.

Alloro Wine Bar & Restaurant is likely the nicest place to eat in Bandon and I think they work hard to serve quality food in a nice atmosphere. When we arrived for our 9pm reservation however, we were pretty happy to sit in a hallway booth out of the main dining area that was occupied by two inebriated and unnecessarily loud groups of Golfers. I suppose Bandon Dunes, a world-class golf resort is a boon to this small beachside community but, well, I hate shouting over dinner to have a conversation! If our server is correct about the frequency of this type of atmosphere, I may recommend getting there earlier in the evening, before wine kicks these types into overdrive.

Our server was gracious enough but went pretty blank when we asked for a wine recommendation based on our food choices. “Something middle of the road” was not the specific advice we were seeking. Our eventual choice of a Willamette Valley Pinot Noir was a bit pale but did service our food reasonably well.

We shared a nice appetizer of Zucchini Blossoms Stuffed with Oregon shrimp, prawn and basil, deep fried with saffron-lemon aioli and then Abby’s Greens, a salad of Local organic greens, beet vinaigrette, blueberries, goat cheese, and balsamic onions. Of the two the salad was much better balanced though we wished that we could have had more than one tiny balsamic onion on the plate.

Our choices of Maple Leaf Farms duck breast, cranberry-cherry salsa, wild rice, farro and hazelnut pilaf, and green beans and Ravioli of Herb-roasted pork, beet greens, hand-dipped ricotta, local lobster mushrooms, in a butter sauce were both very finely prepared and savory. But our ravioli shared a common trait with the squash-blossom appetizer which was an awkward balance that tended to heaviness. Fortunately for us, we had asked for lemon slices to be served with our water and we discovered that by simply adding a small squeeze of lemon juice to both dishes, the small amount of acicity improved the balance of both these dishes to elevate them from ok to really great!

Our desserts of Cannoli with fruit and a chocolate gelato with coconut and macadamia nuts were both excellent!

Overall the prices were reasonable for the quality of food served and we were happy to have sampled the fare of this small boutique eatery. We would go back, probably a little earlier next time. And for the style of service and what they seem to be trying to do there, it seemed a bit out-of-place to have to doctor our plates at the table to really bring out the flavors of this otherwise well-prepared food!
