“The Volunteer Guide was Fantastic!”
Reviewed 4 August 2014

While gathered for a family reunion get-together at nearby Sunriver, we decided to visit Mount Bachelor. We took the ski lift up the mountain. The staff at the top of the lift volunteered to take a series of photos of our multi-family visit. After watching several Mountain Bikers (with lots of protective gear) take off down the bike trails, we headed for the lodge. There, we met up with a Forest Service Volunteer Guide (and his Golden Labrador assistant) who proceeded to give us a very interesting and informative talk about the geologic history of the old and new Cascade Mountains. Lots of spectacular Wilderness Area scenery to view, but not much else since all the shops etc. in the lodge were closed. Do carry a sweater or light jacket as it can get cool when (not if) the wind starts to kick up.

“Mountain view”
Reviewed 30 July 2014

We took the ski lift up to the station for a fantastic view. Be sure to take a light jacket or sweatshirt, even in July the temps can be cool at the top. A ranger talk informs you of the area. There is a restaurant at the top, or outside tables to eat your picnic lunch. Dog sled rides (on wheels) are at the base near the ticket center and gift shop.

“It Was Something To Do”
Reviewed 26 July 2014

While visiting Bend, Oregon we spent a Saturday morning in Sisters going to an antique show and also a classic car show. After that we went back to Bend and late in the afternoon drove out to Mt Bachelor. We purchased 4 senior twilight passes (at around 3 p.m.) to ride the chair lift to the top and then discovered that during the summer they only go about 3/4 of the way to the top. That was kind of disappointing. Riding a chair lift is a slow motion deal and the scenery only got a little bit better than what we were already able to see while driving up to the ski area.

At the place we were let out there is a building that serves food but everything was closed except for the gift shop. I kind of looked at this as just something to do late in the afternoon before dinner.

“The Best!”
Reviewed 30 June 2014

We love Mt. Bachelor because it is 20 min from our home. I don't even ski as do other family members but enjoy sitting in the lodge with coffee, watching the slope hysterics. Accommodations and good restaurants are minutes away in Bend but go early morning and leave earlier if you want to avoid back-up traffic. There are also many cross country/snowshoe trails in the near vicinity. Beautiful!
