While gathered for a family reunion get-together at nearby Sunriver, we decided to visit Mount Bachelor. We took the ski lift up the mountain. The staff at the top of the lift volunteered to take a series of photos of our multi-family visit. After watching several Mountain Bikers (with lots of protective gear) take off down the bike trails, we headed for the lodge. There, we met up with a Forest Service Volunteer Guide (and his Golden Labrador assistant) who proceeded to give us a very interesting and informative talk about the geologic history of the old and new Cascade Mountains. Lots of spectacular Wilderness Area scenery to view, but not much else since all the shops etc. in the lodge were closed. Do carry a sweater or light jacket as it can get cool when (not if) the wind starts to kick up.
