“Great place to stop at along the Cascade Lakes Scenic Byway”
Reviewed 12 July 2014 via mobile

The family stop here to get a bite to eat while we were driving the Cascade Lakes Scenic Byway. We had a very tasty lunch & the service was really good. I recommend the BBQ brisket hoagie with fries. The wife had a really good chicken sandwich. Very nice bathrooms & just off the road.

My family and I visited the lake and rented a boat with motor. Their website states 30 dollars for four hours. I was charged 80 dollars and was told the website is wrong. Problem with that is all the prices must be wrong because a full day is 45 dollars. I was told I wouldn't be refunded but if we visited again they would buy us lunch. Terrible!!!! Fifty dollar bar food no thank you. The right thing to do as a business honor your prices and do what's right. We will never go back and you can keep your lunch offer.

Just skied into Elk Lake Lodge with some friends today. It is now an annual trip. We stopped in the lodge for a bite to eat after a long ski, and had ribs, beans, and fries. The ribs were incredibly tasty and falling off the bone. Fries were better than just normal fries. The beans . . . were incredible. Beautiful place to visit in the winter and great food.

We're from Porltand and hadn't been to the Bend area for some time. We stayed in a camping cabin, which was basically a bed (with additional beds we didn't use) and table with nearby water and outhouse. It was closer to camping than we expected. We didn't bring camping gear and could have used better lights, etc. Having a really good mattress was a plus!

The main bed was very comfortable though crammed against the wall, so we had to climb over each other to get out to use the outhouse in the middle of the night.

There are new owners, so we expect good things are coming. They were just taking over when we visited. The food in the cafe was excellent with very fresh food, great salads and reasonably priced. Drinks were with fresh squeezed juices and very strong. The outdoor cafe was fun and good service and friendly staff. Hummingbirds visited the flower baskets just a few feet from our table. A lovely setting.

We expected electric lights, suitable for reading, but instead it's propane lanterns without a glass globe. We were afraid to use it because of the propane smell and the absence of a globe. We never were able to figure out the heater. We recommend they add electricity.

Other beds (bunks and loft) had thin foam mattresses suitable for kids but not for adults who need more cushion. Floors could have been better swept. Water was available but pump handle was hard to use. Outhouses could use more service for smell and TP.

It's a gorgeous lake and a great place. Hopefully the new owners will fine tune and make it even better.

Room Tip: Take a headlamp if you want to read.

We stayed up there they last weekend in June and it was a beautiful location. Our family time at the beach there was wonderful. The food was ok, staff a bit overwhelmed with the number of customers. The bad part was when we tried to go to sleep. Another group was up until past midnight doing karaoke outside on Friday and on Saturday there were drunk people roaming around our cabin from the concert. We had a baby trying to sleep and it kept her up most of the night. Obviously a party spot, not for families in the evenings.

Room Tip: Stay in the campground.

We traveled from San Francisco to Bend for a week and stayed at the resort for 3 nights. We had an amazing time and next year we will spend our entire vacation at the resort. We stayed in cabin 19 and it was cozy and wonderful. We rented a pontoon boat one day and spent the other day on the beach and playing on paddle boards (our first time). The restaurant that was built in the thirties makes the most amazing food. The Prime Rib was one of the best we have ever had. The staff was extremely accommodating as my wife has some diet restrictions. Best margaritas I've ever had. We will tell everyone about our stay. Thanks Mitch for the paddle board lessons and the hiking info. Chad was a great and friendly bartender. Tom even carried our cooler up to the cabin.

For $200.00+ a night we were sure expecting something alot better than we got, we felt total disgust with cabin #25 when we stepped inside. I wasn't expecting the filth and neglect that we found.
* The drains in both bathroom sink and shower were plugged
* The refridgerator was dirty and still had food in it, it didn't have a light & it hadn't been
defrosted in probably 1 year
* There were 4 light bulbs out, 2 switch plates were falling out of the wall and one was cracked
* The oven was awful and the pans were disgusting, the stove top likewise.
* The bed comforter was disgustingly dirty and had blood stains or who knows what on it
* Our bedroom had no privacy shades or curtains
* The stand alone fireplace had an illegal gas hookup
* Kitchen cabinet door was broken and held together with duct tape
* Walls cracked, nail holes, filthy and badly marked
* Dust everywhere

We stayed 2 nights August 18th and 19th 2013 and we were never so happy to leave a place
We were able to pass this experience on to 40 people we met at a party tonight and they won't make the same mistake we did. We also have pictures that we will post of our findings

Room Tip: Don't stay the night there, just make it a day trip....Hopefully for the sake of Elk Lake Resort...
