In planning my trip to a city that had for years been touted as a possibility for retirement and a mecca for outdoors people, I looked for all the possibilities for lodgings during a trip to Bend that I was eager to make. The options included vacation rentals and hotels in other areas of town. I concerned myself with air conditioning as I've learned heat waves can collapse a great summer trip in areas where the weather usually make AC unnecessary. Many vacation rentals were absent this luxury. The Hilton is located beside the river in the Old Mill District. This is a mixed value. The Old Mill District has nothing new. Sadly they have created a standard US mall with all the typical major stores. The Gap has little allure for the tourist in Bend. It does have some restaurants that make a walking distance dinner not a bad idea at all and we took advantage of that. Bend, in fact, has a kind of "created" feelin, beginning here. I swear all the trees are the same height.

The hotel has a bridge across the river and there is a marvelous sense of being at the center of all the action: People tubing and kayaking and paddle boarding down the river. We were told it was easy to rent tubes nearby, but the river does have a current, and I think you'd have to also arrange for pick up. There is also action elsewhere, but we had a car, and we could go find it (downtown, the Deschutes Brewery). Given the options, I felt this hotel suited us well. We did avail ourselves of a walk to the shopping center and eat dinner. There is a fund spice shop and a local jewelry store. The hotel is a lovely facility, the rooms pleasant and roomy, a generous coffee bar in the lobby. The fitness room was ample, and happily for us not frequented as I'm sure most people plan on getting their exercise elsewhere. (We tried to arrange SUP lessons, but our only day available was too windy for beginners.). The staff was young and although not particularly helpful with information about getting around, were charming and delightful. I ended up thinking we'd made a great decision.

Room Tip: Near the exit close to the footpath across the river

This is a lovely, new facility with large, quiet rooms. The breakfast was well priced, prepared fresh and served hot at our table. We had an amazing view to the West and counted six snow-capped mountains along the Cascade Range. What's not to love?

We only stayed one night on our way back from California, but would stay there again. The room was clean and spacious, and very quiet. The area is also very nice as well. Wasn't terribly impressed with the staff at the desk, but the staff in the dining area were excellent.

The pool was open 24hrs, so my kids enjoyed a very early morning swim before we left for the next stop.

Breakfast was excellent - you have the option of $11 for the buffet and any to-order item, or $6 for just the buffet (pastries, juices, fruit, etc.). The buffet was also free for kids under 12.

Room Tip: Room on the west side was quiet.

We had such a great stay at Hilton Garden Inn. The location is excellent. Just few steps to the Old Mill district where you can do shopping and find great places to eat. There are somany places to walk or you can just rent a tube and float down the Deshute river. In overall the hotell is very nice and clean I think it was little over priced. The breakfast experience has not good, they did not have enough staff and all the tables where full of dirty dishes and no room to sit and no one really seemed to care about it.

This is definitely an upgraded hotel from previous experiences with other Hilton Garden Inns. Friendly staff, spacious room and fantastic location right above The Old Mill District. My husband and I used the well-equipped fitness room with great views and there is a nice indoor pool next to it. Laundry room also available which was a bonus for us. This was a last minute reservation for our family of four only king room avail. Room easily accommodated two in sleeping bags on floor. Bit of a bummer no roll-aways here. Breakfast a good deal, kids 12 and under free and reasonable for adults. Clean and well-equipped with fridge and microwave.

This is a newer Hilton property that is located in a good location for exploring Bend. The rooms are typical Hilton quality and the restaurant in the lobby was available for B-L-D. We didn't spend much time utilizing all of the facilities (time constraints) but would recommend staying here. The Bend area is spectacular so spend some time visiting the mountains, rivers, and lava sites. They are unlike anything you typically find in other states.

Room Tip: Check your GPS to find this place. Need to travel some neighborhood streets to get there.

Beautiful, clean, luxurious...dining could be great but was not. Room was nice and quiet. Balcony with view was exceptional. Looked like everyone was enjoying the amenities. A very nice stay...lots of great local restaurants.
